Very excited to be offering the Drop-In Clinic again for our friends and neighbors experiencing homelessness! So often the forms needed for livability access, such as housing and food support, act as a gate keeper for some of our most vulnerable community members.

The Drop-In Clinic serves as a low-barrier access for folks to meet with a mental health clinician to complete these forms. Our hope and goal is to provide a quality, trauma-informed experience that will allow people to feel safe, care for, and empowered to continue longer-term care.

Launching December 4th!

I have been working primarily in grief the past couple of years, so 70%+ of my day tends to be spent talking or studying or reading about death, dying, loss. Yet still, gratefully it happens, when I will get swept away in the moments that witnessing the grief experience will take my breath away. 🙏🏼 Sending my love to all of you as we move through mountains of grief this holiday season.

I have not posted on my professional page in quite a while, and quite honestly often forget I even have one. It was gently called out to me that the silence on my professional page as a white therapist is dangerous and damaging.

I want to express solidarity to all of those suffering in their grief, confusion, rage. As a therapist, licensed social worker, and aspiring Spiritual Companion, I am reminded by my SDI organization (https://www.sdiworld.org) that I am called to bear witness; to bear witness to what is happening with compassion, utilize deep and reflective listening, seek to understand, and to take action. This is humbling and necessary.

“Listening is not a passive response to the crisis we now face. It is, rather, an urgent and necessary action, and one of the most potent tools at our disposal to begin a process of remediation, change and healing. It can provide the wisdom and understanding to see a way forward through taking action that may rectify, rather than intensify, the divisions in our societies.”

I am listening.

As Governor Walz indicated in his press conference today, our seniors/elderly are isolated and struggling. I am a Medicare-approved mental health therapist, and am happy to engage with your wise-age loved ones.

And with the advancements we have made with Telehealth, therapy is more accessible than ever for greater Minnesota.

This is such a beautiful episode, normalizing the grief experience, validating the grief experiences of a pandemic, and discussing how we can support one another rather than compare (and judge) our grief experiences. Give it a listen!

Grief expert David Kessler takes us by the hand and walks us into what he's learned about love, loss, and finding meaning. As someone who has a lot of fear about grief and grieving, this conversation is not what I expected. The only word I can use to describe what I learned from David is "beautiful....

I have found myself feeling a collective loss this past week. Hearing about weddings needing to be postponed or altered. High school graduations or birthdays being spent alone. Not seeing your spouse/partner during this time, or being completely alone in your home. People anticipating the birth of their baby, and not being able to have people meet their new child. Concerts being cancelled. Your high school team finally makes it to the big state tournament, and it won't be happening. This is all so heavy.

Yes, there are indeed *more* difficult situations (ie: housing/bills, financial loss, etc), but I think it is important to give space to any emotional weight you are carrying.

This article normalizes and validates that experience.

While the Coronavirus forced me into Telehealth before I (and many of the folks I work with) felt ready, I am excited about the opportunity to offer services to greater Minnesota!

An informational article about teletherapy and services offered at Lyn-Lake Psychotherapy & Wellness. Information about telehealth during COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting next week (March 25th) we will be closing our drop-in clinic until further notice.* This is based on national recognition of the spread of the Coronavirus, and an effort to help keep our communities safe.

I understand that I am at a privileged advantage that I am able to work from my home, so if I can make something easier for you or our community, I want to be able to do that. I am happy to expand my Telehealth services to better support you and/or the people you are serving.

I want to acknowledge that many of our societal conversations of self-quarantine often overlook our most vulnerable folks; folks living in shelters, camps, and other public spaces, making it impossible to self-quarantine.

I also want to acknowledge the unique situation that care providers find themselves in as we attempt to care for folks during something so unique and unknown as a pandemic. What a year 2020 has been so far!

Please feel free to reach out! Many of us are collecting resources and avenues for us all to increase our self compassion and self care during such a trying time.

All my best,
Jade

*Our drop-in clinic is typically held Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm at 621 W Lake St, Suite 350, Minneapolis. It is a low-barrier access to mental health care, which means we do not require appointments or active insurance. If you think you or someone you know would benefit from this service, please let me know and I can include you on my mailing list for communication of when this will begin again.

Every Wednesday from 1-3 pm, individuals trickle into the small waiting room at Lyn Lake Psychotherapy and Wellness’s Lyndale Ave and Lake St. location. Some of them have forms in their hands that require a signature. Some of them are there just to talk to someone. The difference between these cli...
