Project SEARCH at Mercyhealth

Project SEARCH at Mercyhealth Project SEARCH is a one-year internship program for students with disabilities in their last year of high school.

Project SEARCH is a ten-month school-to-work transition program for students with disabilities with total workplace immersion, classroom instruction, career exploration, on-the-job training and job development support. It is targeted for students whose goal is competitive employment in the community. The program is headquartered at
Mercyhealth Hospital - Rockton Avenue. Students participate in up to three internships to explore a variety of career paths. Each student works with a team that includes his or her family, a teacher, employment specialists, and a rehabilitation counselor to create an employment goal and to support the student during the transition from school to work.

What a 3 weeks it has been! We have learned so much and gone over so much like budgeting, team building, communication do’s and don’t, conflict resolution, conflict in the work place and many tours. We also had graduate Kaitlyn Welsh give a few words of encouragement before they start next week in their departments!

Congratulations to Ethan on gaining employment at Mercyhealth in the kitchen as a food service assistant! We are more than proud of you! Ethan really showed hard work while in his 3rd rotation which resulted in employment with the host business. Keep being great it definitely is noticed by many!
