💕 Infant and toddler Mamas, this is for you!
✨ Long before children say their first words, there are many developmental steps towards talking.
What comes before our first spoken word:
⭐️ Engaging in joint attention: When a baby looks at the same object or event as another person, like following your gaze or pointing to something interesting.
⭐️ Making/Imitating sounds: vocalizations, babbling, and experimenting with different sounds.
⭐️ Understanding language: Responding to simple instructions such as “come here” or “give me” and early words like “mama”
⭐️ Social Responses: Smiling back or turning towards a voice.
⭐️ Using gestures: Pointing, waving, or clapping to communicate their needs or interests.
⭐️ Imitating actions: Copying the movements and behaviors of others, such as clapping hands or waving goodbye.
💫 These skills are an important foundation for language development and communication.
