Do you have an ancestor buried in a cemetery somewhere but you just don't know where it is located once you get inside?

I am now offering grave location and headstone pictures as a service. I do not mind traveling within reason, but may request some compensation depending on distance.

Good morning, folks and friends!

I am going to be researching Knox County families in an attempt to build a comprehensive database of surnames for records.

I'm going to be starting out slowly, so please bear with me. I will be rolling through the alphabet and hopefully will be able to get to everyone interested.

If you are a Knox County family and your last name starts with A-D, and you are interested in either assisting in my research with your family information, or are otherwise interested in finding out family information, please message me. This project will be a bit of an undertaking for sure.

Boxes of old books? Take a peep through them before you get rid of them!

In a book, in a box, tucked away upstairs, I found a letter from my great-great grandfather Fred E. Wilbur of Swans Island to his sister Flora Belle, written the day after the birth of my great-grandfather Harry Elwood Wilbur.

"Miss Flora Wilbur, Eastbrook ME.

Minturn, March 18 1901

I wish you was here to see the fellow who is here, he is the making of a regular Jim Corbett. He is not very heavy, only weighs 10 1/4 lbs got here yesterday.
Maud is real well and if nothing happens I am coming home soon. I am going to the Sound as soon as I can get away.
How is father this spring and the rest of you?
Maud's father has gone to Gloucester and from there he is going down south (?)
I will have to close for it is getting late. Remember me to all and write soon.
From Fred
I am going to call the baby Harry Elwood."

Do you have boxes and boxes of family pictures and documents? You wonder if anyone will ever be interested in them. What are you even keeping them around for?

STOP! Don't even THINK about getting rid of them! You've got GOLD in those boxes! Snapshots into the world, often before it was our world. Oftentimes the pictures you have are the only ones taken at the time, and no other family member has a copy (duplicates and modern uploading excluded). One of the big tasks I am undertaking now for my personal tree is reaching out to extended family for stories, pictures, anecdotes, more leads. It can be tiring but the end goal is a better understanding, and a smoother means of cataloging information; acquiring new pictures of the family puzzle is its own reward! What is a boring old photo to you is the missing piece of someone else's puzzle that you never knew was being solved!

Pictured below in 1951 are my great-great grandparents Georgina Ann Baird and Charles Robert Brooks, both of Amherst, Cumberland, Nova Scotia. Above them is (to my understanding) a 1903 portrait of Georgina's parents, Charles Tupper Baird and Rebecca Purrinton Reade.

Bring those family relics into the digital age! Take inventory of what you have and figure out the best way to share or catalog it. Overwhelmed? Can't find the time? Let's have a chat!

How are your family records? Are they incomplete? Barely legible? Only legends? Nonexistent? Allow me to help!

A great amount of care is taken to ensure that the records made are as complete as possible, given the information available. The records of the living tend to be difficult to access.

I will first assess what information you are looking for and what level of detail you are hoping to attain. The main services I provide are as follows.

Record search - Information on a specific individual. For example, you know who your grandfather was but you don't know where he came from. This is helpful if you know what you are looking for and you don't need more information than that.

Descendant research - Start at a point on the tree and work back to you. For example, your greatx10 grandmother is Rebecca Nurse but you don't know exactly how. This is helpful if a noteworthy figure is included in or believed to be in the line.

Ancestry tracing - Follow your line or lines back to a specific time period or individual, or as far back as I can go. This is helpful for those interested in having extensive information compiled, looking to enter a lineage society, or perhaps for confirmation your ancestors served during certain wars.

Tree creation - This option is ideal for those looking to leave some information for their family, when the time comes for them to be interested in such things. Life is crazy and fast, and sometimes it's easier to get this info now and have it set aside rather than attempt it years down the road with nobody to ask.

Advanced Tree Creation - This option is for those who are interested in everything they can find, siblings, offspring, etc. I will research your lines, and their lines, and their lines, etc.

I look forward to enriching the knowledge of your family history!
