Linda Pinson

On April 26, 2026, Linda Elizabeth Valentine Pinson, 76, left this earth to be with her Heavenly Lord and Saviour.

Born in Maryville, Tennessee on December 3, 1949, Linda was the daughter of the late Howard and Betty Nazerian Valentine. Howard worked on various government contracts for LockheedMartin throughout the country. Linda primarily grew up in Cu***ng, GA and Sandusky, OH. After graduating from Sandusky high school, she received a B. A. in English and History from Mercer University and a Master’s in Education from North Georgia College in Dahlonega.

Linda had a desire to teach and began her career in Forsyth County, GA in the early ‘70s. Eventually she found a great satisfaction teaching English to College Bound Seniors who still talk about the wonderful experience of having her as a teacher. She would assign term papers and read them all night in order to return the corrected papers to her students as quickly as possible. She would take students to the library at North Georgia College so they could experience studying in a college level environment.

In 1979 she met Joe Pinson who was beginning his teaching career at Forsyth County High. The following year they began dating and were married in July 1981.

Joe changed career paths and joined the new Lockheed facility in Austin, TX in 1982. Linda moved from high school to middle school. They lived in Austin for four years, then transferred to Kings Bay in South Georgia, living on Amelia Island and Linda continued teaching. Another transfer would take them to Silicon Valley just before the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989. Schools had already begun so Linda joined Bay Networks, a Local Area Networking company where she would eventually become Manager of Administrative Services and support the VP-CFO and VP-World Wide Marketing. Joe often laughed about waking her for 2 a.m. staff meetings with people in other parts of the world. A final change came in 1997 when they returned to Florida and settled in Rockledge. There Linda began her final career with Lockheed Martin supporting the Navy customer in the Technical Data and Information Services group at Cape Canaveral. She retired in July 2024 having enjoyed 26 years with the company.

Linda received many accolades during her work life. She was named district Georgia Star Teacher twice. She served as Department Chair while teaching in Georgia and Texas. She was a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and traveled throughout the US teaching and certifying others. She received numerous awards and honors at both Bay Networks and Lockheed Martin. Most important to Linda was the respect she both received from and gave to everyone be they students, parents or her peers in Education, Local Area Networking, Lockheed-Martin or Navy personnel. Linda was loved by everyone.

She was a fantastic cook and loved doing it. At one point she had over 800 cookbooks. She and Joe started a small catering business while living in north Florida. They loved entertaining and were known for their parties, especially during the Christmas holidays. Their home was decorated to the nines with trees in every room and decorations inside and out. She loved to listen to Joe play the piano and sing. She became involved in his love of Antique Automobiles and could be sometimes seen helping work on their cars. She served as President of the Cape Canaveral Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and held other offices in that organization as well. During the summers while in Texas, she taught classes teaching other educators’ new skills. She was a certified Black Belt trainer on how to work smarter in the corporate world. And you could periodically find her in Casinos in Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Reno, South Florida or Murphy, NC with a smile on her face as she often came away with more than she invested. She loved her home, traveling and history and wrote a book about Mountain Folklore as part of her master’s program. She loved sports including the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Vols and her poodles Mango and Coal – they were her fur children, and they are missing their mom. She loved her Church and she loved God. But Joe was her life and she was his.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joe Pinson, sisters-in-law Nancy Barfield and Edith Pinson, Aunts Patsy Childers and Loretta Nazerian and Uncle Gene Simonds, nieces and nephews Sylvia Pinson, Lynn Charles, Jeff and Lana Norris, Christy Barfield, Ed and Stacey Pinson and their children and grandchildren and countless cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Jackie Pinson and Ed Barfield, niece Shannon Pinson Burke and her very special sister from another mother, Gail Corn.

Linda loved everyone, but she had a special group of friends she held close to her heart - Cindy Stickler, Cyndy Thomas, Annette Gordon, Anna White, Chris and Sandy Solarek, Ines Campos, Lora Winner, Dot Willard, Denise Miller, Sue Blackburn, Nadine Simonds, Joyce Kephart, Roy Valentine, Shelia Kirby, Michael Mullis, Jeff and Miriam Tomberlin, Alan Mullis, Betty Gravitt, Terry Ellis, Betsey White, Maryellen and Coley Epperson, Marion Klepper, Glenda Hill, Nick Fagian and Larry Grant.

A Celebration of Linda’s Wonderful Life will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cocoa, FL where she was a member. The address is 750 Brevard Avenue. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. A reception will be held following the service. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Murphy, NC at a later date.

A special thank you to the staff of Vitas Hospice in Rockledge who made Linda’s last days so comfortable, to Dr. Liv Florescu and his staff and to Diane Gaines, Barbara Wheaton, Kasha Harrell, Nick Fagian, Rob Martin, Jeff Tomberlin, Alan Foster, Pastor Dean Williamson and so many of you helped me care for and prayed for Linda throughout this journey. She fought the hard fight and fought it well – it is now time for her to rest.

Memorials in Linda’s memory may be made to Vitas Hospice at (http://vitascommunityconnection,org/) or to the First Baptist Church of Cocoa Youth Ministry (cocoabaptist.org).

Alan Wehner

Alan Keith Wehner, beloved husband, father, papa, son-in-law, brother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by those he loved most.

Born on July 25, 1946, in Liberty, New York, to Alfred and Myra Wehner, Alan was the second oldest of seven children, following his sister JoAnn, and alongside Rita, Bea, Bob, Joe, and Sandy. In 1957, his family relocated to the Cocoa/Rockledge area, where he would build a life rooted in family, hard work, and lifelong passions.

Alan was a certified auto mechanic and proud small business owner in his early years, running a local shop in Cocoa. He had a deep love for cars and racing, lending his skills to numerous race teams over the years and always keeping at least one show car in the garage. If he wasn’t at the racetrack, he could often be found watching races from his recliner, enjoying college football, or settling in for a classic Western.

Working alongside his father and brothers trimming homes sparked a lifelong passion for woodworking, which led to his role as wood shop manager at Sea Ray Boats. He later had the unique honor of contributing to the Space Shuttle Program in Life Support, where he assisted in the training of astronauts—an accomplishment he was deeply proud of.

Following the end of the Shuttle Program, Alan returned to what he loved most—woodworking—opening AJ’s Unfinished Furniture with his wife, Margaret. He continued that work until his retirement in 2015.

In 1984, Alan married the love of his life, Margaret, beginning 42 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they enjoyed traveling, visiting new places, and making memories with family and friends along the way.

Alan was a proud father to Amy and a devoted Papa to Hunter, Ryan, and Madeline. He will be remembered as a man who was always there—steady, generous, and kind. He was someone people could count on without hesitation, always ready to lend a hand, share his knowledge, or simply show up when it mattered most. He taught those around him how to be good people—not just through words, but through the way he lived.

To those who loved him, he wasn’t just a great man—he was home. He was the kindest, most caring soul we ever knew, and he showed what it means to be a good person simply by the way he lived and the way he showed up, again and again, when it mattered most.

A celebration of Alan’s life will be held on May 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the main pavilion at Fox Lake Park in Titusville, Florida.

Socorro Lumbert

Socorro Milagros Vicenty Sanchez Lumbert, 86, died peacefully in her home in Rockledge, FL, surrounded by her family.

Born on May 5, 1939, in Aguada, Puerto Rico, she was named for Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and never did anyone live up to their name so well. In Puerto Rico, she worked as a social worker in addition to being a nursing assistant to her brother, the doctor. She was fearless, walking into homes to defuse domestic situations even when the police refused to enter, and navigating some of the most dangerous neighborhoods of Ceiba armed with only a steel nail file.

In December of 1965, she fell in love with a Navy man, Steven Lee Lumbert. They married on June 24, 1966, and moved to Colorado.

In Pueblo, Colorado, she was mother to two daughters, (Karina Lynn Gay Fabian and Regina Francisca Koske) and helped raise her nephew, Duane Perrine. She also welcomed her daughters’ friends with open arms and made them feel they were family. Many of them still call her “Mom.”

She was a substitute teacher for Spanish, and kids said they learned more from her on her substitute days than from weeks with their regular teachers. She returned to social work with the developmentally disabled, retiring after 20 years to be a full-time grandma and volunteer at the church with her husband, the Deacon. She was his right hand in everything from leading marriage preparation classes to shoveling snow off the church sidewalks. Her beautiful voice graced the Spanish choirs. She also had the ability to make friends at first meeting and charmed people with her smile and infectious laugh.

A notorious shopper and bargain hunter, she was always buying with someone else in mind: the church, the poor, the “little girls down the street.” She supplied many churches with holiday decorations, gave many in need bountiful Christmases, and gifted innumerable children with her generosity.

Socorro is survived by her husband of 60 years, Steven; her daughters, Karina and Gina; her grandchildren, Steven, Allen, Alex, and Liam, her siblings, Judith Mitzy, Josepha, Gloria, and Guillermo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Guillermo and Georgina, and siblings Wassilly, Kennedy, Aida, Carmen, and Eugenio.

The memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community in Viera, Florida, on Thursday, April 30, 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Joni and Friends. https://joniandfriends.org.

Services will be livestreamed at https://stjohnviera.org.

Kathleen Jenkins Holcomb

The world became a little dimmer on April 18, 2026, when Kathleen Jenkins Holcomb, age 90, of Cocoa, Florida, left us. Born on November 17, 1935, in Eccles, West Virginia, to John Walter Jenkins and Nora Helen Jenkins, Kathleen grew into a woman whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, and she carried that gentle generosity throughout her life.

Kathleen spent most of her adult years in Northern Virginia, where she worked in various hospitals as an admissions representative. She approached her work the same way she approached life—with patience, compassion, and a genuine love for people. During her daughters’ childhoods, she was deeply involved in Job’s Daughters, traveling often and joyfully with the girls in the organization. Those years brought her great pride, adventure, and lifelong friendships.

After her youngest daughter graduated from high school, Kathleen moved to Florida to be closer to her siblings—Alta Freson, Lulu Belle Miller, and John Jenkins. She quickly fell in love with the sunshine and rhythm of the coast, eventually settling in Melbourne Beach, where she truly thrived. She delighted in long walks on the beach, sometimes for miles, and she cherished traveling with friends, embracing every opportunity to explore and enjoy life.

Kathleen is survived by her daughters Stephanie Jefferson, Valli Dawson, Patricia Quintana (Douglas Willard), and Traci Freeman (Darrell Freeman); her brother John Jenkins; and her beloved grandchildren Dana Harewood, Kathleen Dawson, Emma, Christopher, Gregory, Aaron, and Kristen Freeman; as well as five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, John Walter Jenkins and Nora Helen Jenkins; her sisters Hester Agnes Davidson, Lulu Belle Miller, Nora Alta Freson; her brother Charles Curtis Jenkins, and her son-in-law Mitchell Anthony Dawson.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and love—a life lived with an open heart and a welcoming spirit. Those who knew her will carry her warmth with them always.

A funeral service will be held at Beckman & Williamson Funeral Home at 1pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with a viewing prior to the service from 12 – 1pm. Flower arrangements may be sent to the Viera location, 5400 Village Rd., Rockledge, FL 32955 on April 24, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Kathleen will lovingly be laid to rest with her late husband Clifford Holcomb at Arlington National Cemetery later this year. Announcements will be sent out with the exact date once the cemetery has informed the family of their availability for the graveside service.

Family Owned and Operated

Planning a funeral is very much an art and a personal thing. For the most part, the people who, plan and direct funeral and cremation services in Brevard today are people who work for large corporations that own hundreds, if not thousands, of similar businesses across the country, and in some cases even around the world. These larger, more impersonal funeral practices - some of them throughout Brevard County - have sales quotas to meet and stockholders to satisfy for Burial and Cremation services .

Not so with the owners of the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes in Brevard County who offer the highest of quality Burial and Cremation services. Both the homes in the company - the original location in Cocoa Beach and the facility in Viera - are equipped to handle virtually any family request. We are able to provide Cremation in our own facilities. We offer the highest quality Burial and Cremation services Brevard County and Central Florida.

Beckman ~ Williamson Funeral Home & Crematory is a locally-owned, Family operated independent funeral home offering Burial and Cremation services . We're here to help and to make sure that your wishes and wants for Burial and Cremation services - no matter what they are - are answered."
