There are so many benefits to living in an assisted living facility, making the move can be a difficult transition for our elderly loved ones. Here are 3 things you can do to make the change more comfortable for them:

1. Don't Rush: It’s important to help your elderly loved ones take the time to prepare for the move both physically and emotionally. Talk to your loved one about their concerns, and make space for them to share their feelings.
2. Create a Familiar Living Space: Consider including beloved pictures and favorite decorations, furniture, and other items with sentimental value.
3. Help Them Maintain Their Life Outside the Community: Where possible and safe, encourage them to continue seeing friends and participating in hobbies they love, whether that’s social clubs, church, volunteering, etc.
