Prescriptions in Texas: Only physicians (MD or DO), dentists (DDS), podiatrists (DPM), veterinarians (DVM), or certain certified optometrists may issue them. Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) or Physician Assistants (PA) may issue prescriptions under a written protocol from a supervising physician.

Pharmacists must ensure prescriptions contain required info and perform a drug utilization review (DUR). They may ask for your complete name, address, or health info (allergies, chronic conditions, other medications/supplements) to check for possible issues. You can refuse to provide details, but you lose the benefit of a complete DUR.

A pharmacist can’t refill without doctor authorization. If all refills have been used, they must contact your doctor. Schedule II meds cannot be refilled at all. The law also places time limits on prescriptions; once expired, new authorization is needed.

Pharmacists may dispense up to a 90-day supply of certain meds if the patient is at least 18, the drug is not psychotropic, and the prescriber allows. Prescriptions from another state may be valid if a true doctor-patient relationship exists. Non-controlled prescriptions from Canada or Mexico must be in writing.

Medications generally can’t be returned once they’ve left the pharmacy. You can transfer remaining refills to another pharmacy, voiding the original. A copy of your prescription is only for reference—new authorization is required to dispense. Talk to your pharmacist for guidance!

Knowing the difference between Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Osteoarthritis (OA) is key. RA is autoimmune, affecting joints on both sides. OA is wear-and-tear, targeting specific joints. RA needs immunosuppressants; OA focuses on pain relief and therapy. Early diagnosis improves outcomes.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder where individuals have difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early and not being able to go back to sleep. It can be triggered by stress, anxiety, poor sleep habits, or underlying health conditions. To prevent insomnia, it is helpful to establish a regular sleep schedule, create a relaxing bedtime routine, limit caffeine and electronic screen use before bed, and manage stress with relaxation techniques.

The human brain is a complex organ handling vital functions like breathing, heartbeat, thinking, memory, and emotion. Each brain area has its task: the frontal lobe for decision-making, parietal for sensory, occipital for vision, and temporal for hearing and memory. These regions enable us to engage with our surroundings.

🚀 We’re redefining convenient, results-driven healthcare. On Sept 1, 2025, Innovative Urgent Care evolves into Innovative Primary Care—and I want you on the inside track.

Frequently Asked Questions for patients for the upcoming transition from Innovative Urgent Care services to Innovative Primary Care services:

1️⃣ Why the change? To focus on long-term wellness, chronic condition management, and prevention—relationships that keep you healthier, not just patch you up.

2️⃣ Will you still help with sudden illnesses? Absolutely. Urgent visits remain, but exclusively for our established primary care members and by appointment.

3️⃣ Can I still walk in? After Sept 1, all visits are scheduled, so your time is respected and your care is never rushed.

4️⃣ What about insurance? We welcome most PPO plans; HMOs will no longer be accepted.

5️⃣ Do you see kids? Care will be for patients 16 +; we’ll guide younger families to trusted pediatrician partners.

⏰ Action step: If we haven’t seen you in the last 6 months, secure your primary care spot now—fall appointments are filling fast.
