In addition to embracing the theory and research of verbal therapies, Music Therapy at Pen Bay Music Therapy integrates music-centered opportunities for connecting, processing, coping, and healing.
Please consider making a donation through our fiscal sponsor, Midcoast Music Academy (501(c)(3) status for tax-deductible donations), to support our mission of creating opportunities for highly-trained music and creative arts therapists in the Midcoast to support clients of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Use the donate button attached to this post or go to https://www.midcoastmusicacademy.com/supportmcma.
We recognize that the healthcare system is making it hard for practitioners to create meaningful, lasting therapeutic relationships in accessible or affordable ways. To make matters more difficult for creative arts therapists, creative arts therapies are not licensed or typically reimbursed by insurance plans in Maine.
To keep sessions accessible, many clients at Pen Bay Music Therapy receive financial assistance to lighten the burden of session fees. We can't do this without generous support from the community! We want to let the Midcoast area know -- music and the arts belong in healthcare.
In this video, you'll see master's-level music therapist Dan Wenger working with Hannah, a young girl with a unique passion for music-making. Through improvisational music and play with Dan, Hannah exercises her capacities for sustaining emotional regulation and attention on spontaneous experiences. We hope their music and play inspires you!
