Big News for Coastal Bend Families! 🎉

ACCESS (Aransas County Counseling & Educational Support Services) is honored to share that a $25,000 grant was received from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation - Arnim Fund to support our "Access to Health: Rural Mental Health Stabilization Program"!

Support for this program was provided by a grant from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation. This funding allows us to deliver affordable, licensed mental health counseling for uninsured and underinsured residents across our region, helping stabilize families before crises escalate.

We are deeply grateful for this investment in the health of our community!

ACCESS is hosting Letters, Numbers & Giggles!, a series of free, drop-in family labs with playful STEM and language learning for children ages 3–7 and their caregivers.

While there are talks about diets and workouts to kick off 2026, a lot of folks are dealing with stress, poor sleep, worry, pain, or just feeling worn down. Small resolutions also work and your steady habits can make a real difference.

Five simple, easy habits to try:

1. Take 2 minutes to slow down each morning - A few deep breaths or quiet moments can help your body settle before the day starts.

2. Move a little every day - A short walk or gentle stretch helps your mood, sleep, and aches more than you might expect.

3. Talk to one trusted person each week - Just one real conversation helps lighten the load. Connection is healing.

4. Protect your sleep - Dim the lights, turn off screens earlier, and give your body time to wind down.

5. Pick one tool and stick with it - Breathing, journaling, counseling, prayer, meditation...what you use regularly is what helps.

Bottom line? Start small and stay consistent. One habit can change the year!

This photo takes us back to 2012 when the Access Counseling Board and team cut a ribbon with the Rockport Fulton Chamber for their new location with a small circle of neighbors who believed Aransas County deserved a place like Access.
