Mount Sinai South Nassau has been rated high-performing in ten areas of care for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report including: Diabetes; Hip Fracture; Kidney Failure; Pneumonia; COPD; Colon Cancer Surgery; Heart Attack; Heart Failure; Maternity and Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma. Colon cancer surgery, diabetes, hip fracture and leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma are new recognitions for 2025-2026. Mount Sinai South Nassau was also awarded a High Performing rating in the 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report® “Best Hospitals for Maternity Care,” which was released in December.

Yesterday, Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Valentino Griffiths, Community & Staff Education Instructor, American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator, provided CPR training to the Nassau County senior center site directors and employees. This CPR training is part of implementing the American Heart Association Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) for the 18 senior centers under the Nassau County Office for the Aging.

The AHA Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP) is a written document that establishes the specific steps to reduce death from cardiac arrest in any setting – be it a school, community organization, workplace, or sports facility

At Mount Sinai South Nassau, we're finding a way to improve health care on the South Shore. We just opened 20 new, private, state-of-the-art critical care suites—each equipped with cutting-edge technology, including in-room respiratory and dialysis equipment and the latest, electronically controlled patient beds to help with mobility and bedside care. The hard-walled, private ICU rooms also include ventilation systems designed to reduce the risk of infection. And nurse workstations are positioned just outside each room to enhance bedside care. The new ICU is just another step Mount Sinai South Nassau is taking to improve health care on the South Shore—right here in Oceanside.

A four-story multispecialty Mount Sinai ambulatory center is set to open in Wantagh this month, bringing an array of top-tier medical services to southeastern Nassau County under one roof! Mount Sinai-Wantagh, located at 2020 Wantagh Avenue, just off Sunrise Highway, is set to open beginning in phases starting next week. The new center represents a $70 million investment by Mount Sinai South Nassau, part of the Mount Sinai Health System. When fully operational by year’s end, the new center will feature Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center services, including hematology/oncology, an infusion center, access to clinical trials as well as a dedicated chemotherapy mixing pharmacy and lab services. The completely refurbished building also will house a Women’s Center, a full radiology suite, orthopedics, pain management, cardiology, endocrinology, urology, neurology, and gastroenterology services.

This week, Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Vaxmobile visited the Hispanic Brotherhood in Rockville Centre. Our team did 32 health screenings. We were also joined by Erica Valenski, NP, and Kathyrn Geraghty, NP from Geriatrics to hand out wrist bracelets to seniors that have QR codes to access medical history and medication lists!
