Progress of the Queen of the night flower. Short bloom time, starting at dusk to midnight then it dies. But the fragrance is like none other! The beauty of the flower is also like none other! First picture the bloom is straight, which is about a week ago. When it’s getting ready to bloom, it will curve up as in the second picture! I will film it time lapsed and post here when it happens!❤️

Bought 2 new pieces of selenite. The glass looking plates! Selenite comes in three forms.
What is the difference between selenite and satin spar selenite?
Selenite crystals often form in elongated, transparent, tabular shapes that can exhibit a pearly lustre and looks like a sheet of glass! Satin Spar gypsum manifests as fibrous or silky, often displaying a satin-like sheen due to its finely fibrous structure that is the Satin spar selenite and better for carving figures as you see here in my tower and bowls. The glass plate is the true selenite. Both are considered to be a form of gypsum. Then there’s the desert rose, you can see that in the third picture that looks like a little ball! ❤️❤️❤️

Selenite is a crystal believed to have various health benefits, primarily focusing on emotional and spiritual well-being, and is also used for energy clearing and protection. While there’s no scientific evidence to support these claims, many people find selenite helpful in promoting calm, clarity, and overall well-being, I know I find it extremely calming to look at them or hold a piece in my hand! 🙏🙏❤️❤️

On the Lunar calendar today the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year yet the light is slowly beginning to come in day by day after tonight. It is the most celebrated holiday next to New year’s. During the winter solstice, people also worship their ancestors and their protective gods and goddesses. Generally, Northerners eat dumplings, and Southerners enjoy tang yuan ( 汤圆 glutinous rice balls—also sometimes called glutinous rice dumplings—both sweet and savory). My family eats Tong Yuan and though my boys are half Asian , this is one of their favorite comfort foods!! My savory Tong Yuan has Dai kon Radish (in TCM it is known as the winter time ginseng!), snow pea leaves and You Choi - kind of like mustard greens and goji berries. The sweet Tong yuan is made with black sesame soup with red dates (cooked and puréed into the soup - good old emersion blender!) and the Tong yuan is stuffed with ground peanuts with a little sugar ! My favorite is savory, but I’ll eat 2 of the sweet ones! The other 6 my husband ate 🙄

Winter Solstice is coming! On the Chinese Lunar Calendar it is 12/222/23. But on the Gregorian calendar it is 12/21/2023. This marks the perfect time for celebration, reflection, and self-care. This is known as the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year. In Chinese Medicine we say this explains the duality of Yin (cold, dark, inward and feminine) and Yang (warm, bright, outward and masculine). Winter solstice is when Yin (darkness and coldness) reaches its peak, hence the darkness day of the year. But at this tipping point of darkness, there is the slow track back to the summer and Yang (warmth and brightness) also starts to emerge. In addition, the winter solstice itself is a powerful time in the tradition of Taoist alchemical practices. The power of the moment as the earth’s yin movement (toward increasing darkness) while simultaneously transitioning to a yang movement (toward increasing light) is known as one of the most important times of the year. Within the exact moment of the transition, there is thought to be a moment of perfect harmony, a blending of the yin and yang that opens the possibility of new creation and rebirth. This is the time to embrace the quietness, solitude and introspection. Certain emotions are common with this shift in energy, some people may feel more reflective, some may feel more in tune with nature, test some may feel a sense of sadness. If you have this sense of sadness during this time, it’s a perfect time to call your acupuncturist to balance your energies!!

SAN FU TIEN - 7/21/2023, 7/31/2023, 8/10/2023 Currently the ratio of population suffering from respiratory diseases, including “asthma” and “allergic rhinitis” is on the rise. According to the “man-university relation” theory of Chinese medicine, San Fu Tien refers to the period between July and August after summer solstice is known as “initial Fu,” “intermediate Fu” and “Late Fu.” During this period, the weather is extremely hot while the human body has the higher immunity due to the vibrant Yang and blood circulation. The Paste made of Chinese herbal medicine helps to tonify the body and is applied externally to initiate sputum-expelling and cold removing actions to prepare you for the coming winter season. Performed 3 years in a row helps to increase the body’s immune responses!!This ancient herbal paste treatment is to “treat winter time diseases in the summer “.

Our harvest of Mulberry fruit, AKA Sang Shen Zi. In Traditional Cuisine Medicine, Mulberry Fruit can tonify the Liver and the Kidneys. In particular, the herb tonifies blood and enriches yin to address symptoms such as dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, weakness in joints, blurred vision and premature graying of hair. Also, it can promote the production of body fluids such as saliva to moisten and relieve Dryness. This means that Mulberry Fruit can also lubricate the Intestines to address constipation caused by Blood Deficiency.

Modern studies suggest that Mulberry Fruit may be beneficial against several chronic conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Not only can Mulberry Fruit lower blood cholesterol levels and improve the ratio between LDL and HDL cholesterol, the herb can also reduce blood sugar levels, decrease oxidative stress, lower the risk of cancer, and prevent fatty liver disease.

As Mulberry Fruit contains a good amount of dietary fibre that the body needs for facilitating proper digestion, it can help to relieve digestive issues such as bloating and stomach cramps. Rich in antioxidants, Mulberry Fruit can improve the functions of the blood vessels by dilating them, which regulates blood pressure. Also, Mulberry Fruit is rich in iron, which encourages the production of red blood cells.

Other than the above Mulberry Fruit benefits, the herb can also improve our immunity and build strong bone tissues. It may even help to prevent bone disorders such as osteoporosis and arthritis. Mulberry Fruit also helps to promote brain health and liver health.
