Having been a mental health professional since 2005, I am always shocked and amazed about what stories upset me after the client leaves...I know a lot of people were impacted by what happened on Friday in town. If anyone needs to talk to someone, my door is always open...I know a lot of people are on break from school and might not have the same level of support...come in groups, come by yourself, just shoot me an email so I can make sure I have availability...daniellecentofranchi@gmail.com - services are free.

o continue with the theme for the month of mental health awareness: Let's talk STRESS ~ No one likes to be stressed out - especially when we know it can be linked to poor health. Everyone has stress. Everyone. Stress is a normal part of life. You can feel stress in your body when you have too much to do or when you haven't slept well. You can also feel stress when you worry about things like your job, money, relationships, or a friend or family member who is struggling with illness or difficult circumstances. You can also have stress when you simply worry about everything, even when there isn't much to worry about!

Mental Health Awareness Month: Challenge Day 1:

While we are all focusing on re-forming our bodies in to our slimmer summer shapes, there are some important things to keep in mind. To start, what we eat impacts our mental health and our overall well-being. I wonder what would happen if we removed the idea of food just impacting our physical sense of self and started seeing it as something that impacts our whole sense of self, including our mental health. De-stigmatizing mental health has been a movement traveling throughout our country and the world for quite some time. I think if we all band together these next 30 days, we can make an impact and change that.

Anyway - certain foods that we eat are directly related to brain function. These include: omega 3 fatty acids, b vitamins, folic acid, vitamin D, prebiotics and probiotics. These help to improve mood, reduce inflammation, and reduce signs of depression. Our more traditional Americanized diet - one that is high in processed, sugary, and fatty foods do the opposite.

PM me for a Grocery List of brain happy foods! Or, visit hopeforachange.org and check out my latest blog.
