Congratulations to Police Medic Martin Evans, who was recognized by St. Francis Hospital for his efforts on the scene of medical emergency.

Police Medic Evans responded to a 911 call and quickly assessed a patient exhibiting signs of a cardiac event. He immediately got to work performing a 12-lead EKG and determined that the patient was having a heart attack. He then started critical pre-hospital interventions and contacted St. Francis Hospital to let them know the patient would be arriving to the ER. Police Medic Evans’ actions and seamless coordination with the hospital got the patient into the cardiac catheterization lab to receive treatment, saving his life.

Thank you to St. Francis for recognizing Police Medic Evans! Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved honor.

When you are asleep, the soft tissues in your throat and mouth, including the adenoids, tonsils, uvula, and other tissues, relax while your tongue falls backward, which can narrow the airway. As a result, air squeezes through these relaxed tissues instead of moving freely as you inh...
