It was a great trip to the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado last month as Dr. Hirsch, Dr. Olexa, and Dr. Kissiova spent a few days learning and networking with outstanding medical professionals from around the world. 🌎

This conference is held annually to support the pediatric community and always inspires our team to continue providing exceptional care to our young patients and their families. 💛

We loved networking with colleagues, learning from nationwide experts, and even seeing a giant 🐻 with a stethoscope! 🩺 How fun!! 🎉

Current Patients: Our monthly Baby Q and A session will take place on Wednesday, October 15th from 1 to 2 PM. Baby Q and A Sessions are drop-in Zoom meetings hosted by our Lactation Support Team: Sharon Curry, IBCLC, and Lynn Taylor, CLC.

This casual meeting is open to all new parents and their babies. All are welcome: moms, dads, breast- or formula-feeding parents, first-time parents, or those with many children! As you navigate your baby’s first year, we invite you to drop in with your questions, and our “baby experts” will do their best to provide answers.

Did you know? Most environmental allergens occur in the Spring and Fall in three waves. As we enter the third wave of allergies in the Fall, you may notice your child experiencing common allergy symptoms, including recurrent runny nose/congestion/itchy nose (allergic rhinitis), as well as itchy/watery/swollen eyes (allergic conjunctivitis), and cough.

Most environmental allergies typically start around age 2-3 years and when left untreated for several weeks, symptoms can progress to a sinus infection, so it’s important to try to address environmental allergies when they start.

So what is causing these allergies? During the fall season, the culprits are fall weeds and ragweed. For information about how to help your child feel better, see Dr. Hirsch’s handout for allergies! Many over-the-counter safe medications can be given to help your child feel better, and as always, if your child continues to struggle, a referral to an allergist might be the next best step!

Hirsch Pediatrics is proud to announce a three-peat! For the third consecutive year, Hirsch Pediatrics won first place in the overall clinical pulse measure at the PCC Annual conference. Each year, over 300 PCC practices compete for the highest ranking. Maintaining the highest quality clinical care for our patients is a team effort, and we were excited to celebrate with our team last month!
