โœ๏ธThe posterior tibialis is a muscle that is located deep in the calf with the tendon running behind the inside of the ankle. It inverts the ankle and assists in plantar flexion, as well as supporting the arch of the foot.

๐ŸงI believe patient education is key with testing is key in this situation. Our job is to show them which areas still need work on and why itโ€™s important to address them before returning to sport.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธIf after everything, they still choose to go back early, that is 100% ok. At the end of the day, thereโ€™s no way to be certain that they will get hurt again. Are they more likely? Probably.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธWe know that around 25-35% of ACL patients suffer a second ACL tear. Thatโ€™s an EXTREMELY high number and the question we need to ask ourselves is why?

๐Ÿง In my opinion, a large portion of second ACL tears is due to poor advice, rehab, and testing. This includes rushing back to play.

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธIsolated quad and hamstring strength using equipment is a MUST. The biodex is still the gold standard for testing. Force plate testing also provides important data. We use and for our testing!

๐Ÿ˜คItโ€™s essential give max effort and use EQUIPMENT for testing and not our hands or eyes.

๐Ÿ˜กTesting gives us data to help drive decision making and also help determine if the rehab programming is actually making a difference.

๐Ÿค•Weโ€™re 1 month into ACL surgery recovery with a high-level lacrosse athlete โ€” and we are slowly transitioning into the early to mid phase.

๐ŸซตWe are focused on finishing off establishing her foundation and we are almost at full range of motion.

๐Ÿค”We are also slowly introducing light strength training with the SAQ, step ups and total gym single leg squats all targeting the quads. The goal is using the BFR to challenge the quads without using excessive weight and doing things to tolerance.

๐Ÿ‹๏ธWe of course also focus on hamstring, glute and calf strengthening as well as proprioception.
