🎯 The Tree House is the only organization in Maryland providing specialized Problematic Sexual Behavior therapy for children ages 7-14. Our H.O.P.E. program now serves youth up to age 14 in both English and Spanish, directly addressing what community partners called their most urgent unmet need during our assessment in 2022. But our expansion in ages served wasn't the only milestone: this year, we sent a team to present at The National Symposium on Sexual Behavior of Youth in Oklahoma – our first time representing our program on a national level.

Sexual abuse cases represented 58.9% of referrals to The Tree House in FY25. Unfortunately, this percentage has only gotten larger over the last few years -- sexual abuse continues to be the main reason that young clients come to The Tree House. 📖 Read more about what we're seeing in our yearly data: https://treehousemd.org/annual-reports/

📈 Over the last fiscal year, we've witnessed a 22% surge in demand for mental health services as cases grow increasingly complex. Our compassionate therapists delivered 4,377 mental health sessions - from individual therapy to specialized programs like H.O.P.E. - all at zero cost to families who need it most.

Big THANK YOU to Georganne Regan who sent us a care package of Uno Card games!

The children absolutely love playing Uno in the waiting area when they are here for therapy sessions, medical appointments or interviews. Many of our kids don't have a lot of toys or games of their own. When we tell them they can take the cards home with them, they can't believe it and get so excited. You made some children very happy with this wonderful donation!

MESSAGE TO SURVIVORS of Childhood Sexual Abuse...

There was nothing that you did to cause the abuse. There was nothing wrong with you why you were picked out.

It's as simple as this... The perpetrator either had access or gained access to you. The molesting, ra**ng & exploiting of children is the perpetrator's issue; a evil choice they made. You did nothing wrong.

So when you question why you, why you may not have told anyone or why you didn't or couldn't stop the perpetrator, remember that you were a child.

Last week's Champions for Children event was an unforgettable reminder of the importance of our mission: to reduce trauma and promote healing for child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect.

It was a privilege to celebrate our Lifetime of Service Honoree Dr. Shukat, joined by her husband Erik and son Jonathan who traveled from New York City just for this special evening.

A huge thank you to The Personal Care Foundation for their consistent support, including last week's drop-off of ANOTHER amazing set of personal care packages for our clients! Thanks to their consistent support and regular donations, our wonderful Child Abuse RN Andrea Coleman is able to distribute these essential hygiene materials when needed to the children and families who visit The Tree House each day.

It truly takes a village to care for children who have experienced abuse, and we're grateful to have The Personal Care Foundation as part of our village here in Montgomery County!
