Are you thinking about your fertility—but not quite taking the first step?

In this episode of Fertile Talks, Dr. Oluyemisi Famuyiwa discusses a common pattern she sees in her practice: patients who spend months—or even years—preparing instead of starting.

From trying supplements and diets to waiting for the “perfect time,” many unintentionally delay getting real answers about their fertility health.

💬 If this resonates with you, leave a comment—we’re here to support you.

At some point in your fertility journey, doing more stops being progress… and quietly becomes delay.

You’ve changed your diet.
You’re taking supplements.
You’re tracking everything.
You’re doing your best.

But time is still moving.

Here’s the truth most people don’t say clearly:

Optimization helps.
But it does not pause biology.

There comes a moment where the question is no longer
“What else can I do?”

It becomes:
“What decision have I been avoiding?”

This week’s Quest for Fertility newsletter is about recognizing that moment and moving forward with clarity.

Preparation has its place.
But progress requires a decision.

Every pregnancy is a miracle.
But twins invite us to look deeper.

In Yorùbá culture, twins are celebrated—named with meaning and seen as symbols of balance and blessing.
In other places, the same biology has been misunderstood.

Same science. Different stories.

Fertility is never just biology—it’s culture, history, and human experience.

Last week, I stepped away from the day-to-day demands of clinical care and immersed myself in something every physician-entrepreneur needs, but rarely prioritizes: intentional business transformation.

I attended the EBS Business Makeover Mastermind, organized by Dr. Unachukwu at the serene Stone Mountain Lakeside Resort.

It was more than a conference. It was a reset.

Over the course of a few days, I gained practical, immediately applicable insights on:
• Leveraging AI agents and automation to streamline operations
• Structuring a practice for efficiency, scalability, and sustainability
• Learning directly from other physicians who are building thriving, well-run businesses

But the most valuable part was not just the content. It was the people.

We walked trails together.
We brainstormed in real time.
We shared openly, challenged each other, and built genuine connections.

There is something powerful about being in a room where everyone is building, thinking, and growing at a high level. The energy is different. The conversations are different. The expectations you set for yourself become different.

I left feeling refreshed, energized, and deeply focused.

And perhaps most importantly, I left with exactly what I needed, even the things I didn’t yet know I was missing.

Grateful to be part of a community that uplifts, teaches, and celebrates one another.

Twins are not just a medical outcome.
They are biology, culture, and meaning intertwined.

Among the Yorùbá people of southwestern Nigeria, twin births occur at some of the highest documented rates in the world. So common that twins are given destiny names like Taiwo and Kehinde, and entire traditions evolved to honor twinhood.

Yet across history, twins have not always been celebrated. In some cultures, they were feared.

In this week’s newsletter, I explore:
• Why twinning rates vary across populations
• What science tells us about fraternal vs identical twins
• The cultural reverence of twins in Yorùbá society
• The real medical risks of twin pregnancies
• And why modern fertility care holds both awe and caution

This is part of The Quest for Fertility series.
Fertility is never just biology. It is history, culture, and care.
