🩺 Vaishnavi Burra ‘27 no longer has to imagine herself working in a hospital emergency room. Over the summer, Burra conducted research and logged clinical hours alongside physicians and scientists at one of the nation’s top pediatric hospitals through a new partnership between William & Mary and Children’s National Research Institute. 🔬
💼 The 10-week summer internship program gave the cohort a glimpse into medical and health professions, attracting students with a range of interests.⚕️Burra worked in the epilepsy department, while Aafreen Ali ‘26 trained an artificial intelligence model to help diagnose 🦠 sepsis, Julianne Abenjoa ‘26 researched rare brain tumors 🧠 and Surya Narayanan ‘26 studied the cardiac effects of Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy and Dysferlinopathy. 🫀
