Ms. Li's fresh and funky look is a beautifully hand crafted eyepiece. Our in-house lab finished her glasses with an expertly fit pair of smart progressive lenses that change to sunglasses when activated by UV light. Happy summer!

Did you know it's important to wear your sunglasses, even on cloudy days? Ultraviolet (UV) rays affect your eyes like they do your skin. There's still plenty of UV rays coming through those clouds and those rays can cause a whole lot of hurt to your eyes over time. UV rays contribute to a number of ocular conditions ranging from surface diseases like fleshy growths on the conjunctiva (the white part of your eyes you can see) to inside the eye like cataracts (clouding of the lens). Not to mention even deeper damage of the retina and macula (the light sensitive area in the back of your eye that allows you see) in conditions like age related macular degeneration (damage/ the breakdown of that area).

What is the difference between progressive lenses and bifocal lenses?

Bifocals only correct for distance and near vision — they do not correct for intermediate vision. On the other hand, progressives are a line-free option that gradually changes in power towards the bottom of the lens. This allows for a range of prescriptions for distance, intermediate/computer, and near vision in just one lens.
