A groundbreaking study from the University of Southern California reveals that fasting for 72 hours can trigger a complete regeneration of the human immune system. Researchers discovered that prolonged fasting depletes the body’s glucose and fat stores, pushing it into a detoxification state that eliminates damaged cells and toxins. Once normal eating resumes, stem cells are activated, leading to the production of new, healthy white blood cells. This “immune reboot” effect was observed in both mice and humans, with chemotherapy patients showing significant improvements in immune health after fasting cycles.
Lead researcher Dr. Valter Longo explained that fasting suppresses a gene called PKA, which must be turned off for stem cells to enter a regenerative mode. This process allows the immune system to clear out older, weaker components and rebuild itself from scratch. While further studies are needed to understand the broader implications for other organs, the findings suggest that fasting could become a powerful, drug-free approach to boosting immunity especially for individuals with weakened immune systems due to aging or cancer treatments......
