Compassion Corral

Compassion Corral Children and adolescents, and their families, team up with horses to make their way through the most

Equine Facilitated Counseling, more commonly addressed as Equine Assisted Psychotherapy in the mental health profession, incorporates horses experientially for mental and behavioral health therapy and personal development. It is a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a horse professional working with the clients and horses to address treatment goals. Because of its intensity and effectiveness, it is considered a short-term, or "brief" approach.

Hi there y’all! I know it’s been a while since I have been able to post anything here. But, I wanted to share with you that Compassion Corral has added a new horse to its program. His name is River. We rescued him from a kill pen. When we got him, he was severely malnuroushed, under weight, covered in tics and was so weak, he could barely stand. We have owned him for two weeks now and he has already started putting on weight and is clean of all tics and other parasites. He even feels good enough to trot around at times! After two weeks of acclimating him to the horses we already have, we had him join the herd today. This video shows how well they did on their first several minutes together. We are so excited to have him here at Compassion Corral as our newest therapy horse!

Howdy y’all! Here is something to consider:
As humans, we all make mistakes; and sometimes we make some big ones. But know this, God is always in your corner, no matter how bad you feel you have messed up. He loves you unconditionally.

Hello y'all! Here's a cowboy saying that is short, to the point, and makes a lot of sense:
"Making someone feel little makes you look small."
Hmm. I wonder what happens to us if we build someone up. Seems like a win, win to me!

Hello y"all! Here is some more Cowboy Etiquette from Texas Bix Bender,

"Allow that others make mistakes now and then - unless you want to be the only one who ever tangles his spurs".

Park that up in your brain for a bit and see what you come to think of it!

A good friend of mine reminded me of one of my favorite songs this week; "The Ride" by Chris Ledoux. Check out the chorus to this song:

"Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high
Keep your eyes fixed where the trail meets the sky
And live like you ain't afraid to die
And don't be scared, just enjoy your ride"

Cowboy or not, these are some words we can all grab hold of! I challenge you to see how they might apply to your life!

Here is a link to the entire song, if you are interested:

Well, we are at the beginning of a new year y'all! Here's some more Cowboy Wisdom that may be useful during the tough times you may encounter this year:

"For every mile of bad road you travel, there're two miles of ditch you're stayin' out of".

Wow! Those cowboys sure do nail it sometimes!

Here's some cowboy wisdom that goes a long way:
"Two great stress reducers:
I'm sorry.
I forgive you."
These work great with any type of relationship! Might also be good to remember these as we are in the thick of the sometimes stressful holiday season!
