For many retinal diseases like age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and uveitis, an eye injection (also called an intravitreal injection) is the only way we can deliver potentially sight-saving medication where it is needed in the back of your eye.

In our latest blog, we share answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about eye injections that we hear from patients at Texas Retina: https://www.texasretina.com/2025/09/23/frequently-asked-questions-about-eye-injections

At Texas Retina, we know anything affecting your sight can be scary. That is why we take the time to truly listen to our patients’ concerns and clearly communicate all treatment options and care provided. It’s about treating our patients as we would our own families.

Today we’re grateful for this recent feedback about Dr. Timothy Fuller. He cares for patients in our Dallas Main and Athens offices. In addition to providing medical retina care, he also sub-specializes in treating ocular cancer.

On behalf of the VERONA study investigators, Texas Retina’s Dr. Ashkan Abbey delivered a presentation at the 58th Annual Scientific Meeting of The Retina Society held September 10-13, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.

The Phase 2 VERONA clinical trial evaluated the durability, safety and efficacy of EYP-1901 in patients with active, previously treated diabetic macular (DME) compared to a control arm that received aflibercept. The aim of EYP-1901, a sustained release tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), is to reduce the frequency of treatments needed compared to current standard-of-care anti-VEGF intravitreal injections.
