A lot of people think they’re avoiding people.

But when you look closer…
they’re avoiding how they feel when they’re around them.

The overthinking.
The self-awareness.
The pressure to say the right thing, respond the right way, be perceived a certain way.

It’s not just “socializing.”
It’s managing an internal experience that feels intense and constant.

So of course avoiding it brings relief.

That doesn’t mean you don’t want connection.
It means connection hasn’t felt safe in your body.

And that’s something that can be understood and worked through.

You can be the easiest person to talk to…
and still feel completely unseen.

A lot of people who play this role don’t struggle with connection,
they struggle with being known inside of it.

You’re the one who:
– listens without judgment
– knows how to respond
– makes other people feel understood

But when it comes to you?
You hold back.
You filter.
You keep parts of yourself just out of reach.

Not because you don’t want connection,
but because somewhere along the way, it felt safer not to be fully seen.

So you become the safe place for everyone else…
while quietly carrying your own experiences alone.
And after a while, that starts to feel heavy.
This isn’t something that’s “just your personality.”

It’s a pattern and patterns can shift.
But it starts with noticing it.

988 works! Spread the digits!

A new study found that the launch of the 988 mental health crisis hotline is linked to a significant drop in su***de deaths among teens and young adults in the U.S.

Between mid-2022 and the end of 2024, there were about 4,400 fewer deaths than expected in people ages 15 to 23, an 11% reduction.

The findings suggest that making help easier to access with a simple three-digit number is saving lives, though experts stress continued funding and support are key to maintaining and expanding its impact.

If you or someone you know needs help, the national su***de and crisis lifeline in the U.S. is available by calling or texting 988.

You can want connection…
and still avoid it at the same time.

That push-pull feeling? It’s more common than you think.
A lot of people crave closeness—but when it gets close, something shifts:
– anxiety shows up
– overthinking takes over
– your body feels overwhelmed

So pulling away starts to feel safer.

This isn’t a flaw. It’s a pattern and patterns can change.

If you’ve been stuck in that in-between…
you’re not the only one.

It’s Autism Acceptance Month and for a lot of women, this conversation is long overdue.
Because autism in women doesn’t always look like what people expect.

It can look like:
– masking to fit in
– overanalyzing every interaction
– feeling drained after socializing
– wondering why things feel harder for you than others

And for many, it goes unseen for years.

Autism acceptance isn’t about “fixing” anything.
It’s about understanding, support, and creating spaces where people don’t have to constantly perform to belong.

That’s exactly why I created Shy Girl Social Club 🤍
A space for women (18–30) who:
• feel socially anxious or out of place
• identify as neurodivergent / high-functioning
• want connection, but in a way that feels safe and real

If you’ve been craving connection but feel overwhelmed by typical social spaces…

You’re not the only one.
And you don’t have to keep doing it alone.

Sometimes the most healing thing you can hear is:

It’s not all on you.
In therapy, we often come back to the “3 C’s” as a way to release misplaced responsibility:

You didn’t cause it
You can’t control it
You can’t cure it

This is especially important for people who:
– feel responsible for others’ emotions
– try to fix everything
– struggle with anxiety or control
– grew up in environments where they had to “hold it all together”

Letting go of these doesn’t mean you stop caring.

It means you stop carrying what was never yours.

And that’s where real change begins.

You can be incredibly self-aware…
and still feel stuck.

That doesn’t make you broken.
It means you’re human.

A lot of people come into therapy already knowing:
✔ their patterns
✔ their triggers
✔ where it all comes from

But insight alone doesn’t rewire habits, regulate emotions, or change behavior.

That part takes:
– practice
– patience
– support
– and learning how to respond differently in real time

If you’ve been hard on yourself for “knowing better but not doing better”…
this is your reminder:

You’re not behind.
You’re in the process.

We’ve blurred the line between healing and performing.

Social media has made it feel normal to share everything but not everything is meant to be processed in front of an audience.

There is a difference between being vulnerable and being emotionally exposed.

And that difference matters for your nervous system, your healing, and your sense of self.

You don’t owe the internet your pain.

You’re allowed to have boundaries, even in a world that rewards oversharing.
