Please join us on Wednesday, April 24th from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM for a virtual parenting seminar on Gun Safety Awareness & Talking to Our Kids. This seminar will be presented by Susan Yeghissian from BeSMART and Mary Miller, Clinical Child Therapist. We will discuss how parents can talk to kids about their concerns and help them deal with the threat of gun violence. ALL participants will receive a free gun lock.

The Guidance Center's Nurture the Future program is partnering with the National Kidney Foundation to offer a FREE workshop on Cooking Matters at the Store. The workshop will be held in-person on Thursday, April 11th from 1 pm - 2 pm at The Guidance Center's - Center for Excellence Building #2. All participants will receive a $10 e-gift card after attending the class.

This session will include information on developmental milestones, such as rolling over, crawling, walking, and talking that most children achieve between the ages of birth and 36 months. We will be discussing activities you can do to help promote your child's growth and development and give you an opportunity to have your questions answered by our presenter, Michelle Mertic, MSW, LMSW, EdD, Director of Early Childhood Education at Baker College. Parents and caregivers are invited to join The Guidance Center's Nurture the Future program to learn about using baby signs to support language and early literacy before your baby can talk. The program will be presented by Claire Vallotton, PhD. and Director of Graduate Studies - Human Development and Family Studies at Michigan State University.

The Guidance Center's Nurture the Future program spent leap day with many families "Leaping into Fun with Math & Science" a family event to celebrate fathers and other important male caregivers. The event started with family pictures, a dinner, and presentation on "Presence over Presents" by Waymond Hayes from Focus: HOPE. The presentation captivated both parents and kids and Mr. Hayes kept everyone moving with fun games. After dinner, we had lots of fun building airplanes, catapults, Lego kits and playing games.
