🌾🐓 Our HP friends are always learning through play and real-life experiences!

Bailey, one of our amazing physical therapists, spent some time exploring the barnyard with this little one — gathering eggs and gently meeting a chicken up close. These moments spark curiosity, build confidence, and support motor skills in meaningful, natural environments.

Simple activities like collecting, carrying, and exploring encourage balance, coordination, and sensory regulation while also helping children connect meaningfully with the world around them. 💜

🍂✨ Fall fun in action! ✨🍂

One of our amazing OT friends spent time today working on a creative fall leaves activity 🍁 with a little one. Activities like this aren’t just about making something cute—they help support important developmental skills such as:

🎨 Fine motor coordination
🌟 Hand-eye coordination
🧩 Attention and focus
💬 Language and social engagement

We love seeing how playful, seasonal activities can be used as therapy tools to support growth and make learning fun. 💛

🟣 Play with a purpose! 🟣

This little one is hard at work with kinetic sand. While it looks like simple play, activities like this are a powerful occupational therapy tool.

✨ Here’s what’s happening:

Fine motor skills: Scooping, pinching, and pressing strengthen the small muscles in the hands needed for writing, dressing and eating skills.

Sensory processing: The unique texture of kinetic sand provides rich tactile input, helping kids explore, tolerate, and enjoy new sensations.

Attention and regulation: Engaging in hands-on, calming play can support focus and self-regulation.

Occupational therapy often uses play-based activities because play is a child’s natural way of learning and building skills. When therapy feels fun, children are more engaged and ready to grow!

☀️ Sensory play, smiles, and sibling support! 💜🧼

During a recent home-based occupational therapy session, this trio of HP friends explored water and shaving cream as part of a sensory-rich activity that supports fine motor development, tactile processing, and social engagement. 🙌

One of the beautiful things about in-home therapy is the ability to involve siblings—not just as bystanders, but as partners in play. Including brothers and sisters in therapy sessions can support modeling, shared regulation, and joyful connection in the child’s natural environment. 👫👬

We love watching these young learners explore, get messy, and grow—together! 💦🧽

We love giving our HP friends meaningful “jobs” during therapy—not just because they love to help, but because these activities build incredible sensorimotor skills!

✅ Heavy Work: Carrying baskets, pushing wheelbarrows, or hauling feed gives deep pressure input to joints and muscles—this “heavy work” helps improve regulation, attention, strength and body coordination.
✅ Bilateral Coordination: Tasks like holding and pouring, pulling weeds, or sweeping require both sides of the body to work together, supporting motor planning and handwriting readiness.
✅ Sensory Adaptation: Working in new textures, temperatures, and environments helps kids learn to process and respond to sensory input more flexibly—building resilience and confidence.

And the best part? These jobs don’t feel like therapy—they’re meaningful, purposeful, and fun! 💛

📸 Swipe through to see our incredible friends in action—building skills that last a lifetime, one “job” at a time.
