As 2025 draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what made this year extraordinary.
It comes down to one word: community.

Our members showed resilience in uncertainty.
Our Board led with clarity and courage.
Our staff worked with heart, purpose, and unwavering commitment.
Our partners walked alongside us with curiosity and trust.
Our students and technicians reminded us what the future can look like when talent meets opportunity.

This year, we strengthened our standard of care, advocated fiercely, grew our programs, revitalized membership engagement, deepened regional partnerships, and launched new leadership initiatives that will shape the profession for years to come.

But what I’m most proud of?
The sense of belonging I saw emerge across our association.
People felt connected again.
Seen again.
Inspired again.

Pharmacy moves forward when we move forward together.

Thank you for making 2025 a year of impact, purpose, and renewed momentum.

Across 2025, one thing became increasingly clear: regional collaboration is one of our greatest assets.

This year, CPA partnered with:
• Neighboring state pharmacy associations
• University schools of pharmacy
• The Healthcare Distribution Alliance
• Corporate partners committed to strengthening independent pharmacy
• Public health coalitions focused on community wellbeing

Together, we delivered joint CE programs, multi-state networking events, unified advocacy statements, and shared leadership development opportunities for students and early-career pharmacists.

These collaborations amplified our voice, expanded our reach, and created a sense of shared identity across New England’s pharmacy community.

No single association can transform the profession alone.
But together, we can shape regional policy, elevate clinical practice, and develop leaders who think beyond borders.

In 2026, expect even deeper collaboration—and an even stronger collective impact.

2025 was a watershed year for pharmacy advocacy in C***ecticut.

Thanks to consistent, coordinated engagement from CPA members, students, technicians, and partners, we made measurable progress in:
• PBM reform and transparency
• Fair reimbursement for vaccines, test-and-treat services, and clinical care
• Strengthening state oversight structures
• Advancing Medicaid policy conversations around pharmacist-provided services

This work is not glamorous. It requires endurance, follow-through, and navigating complex political terrain. But the impact is enormous.

What encouraged me most this year was how many new voices stepped into advocacy—first-time letter writers, first-time testifiers, first-time relationship-builders with legislators.

Policy changes happen when associations activate their grassroots.
Reform happens when members raise their voices.

We enter 2026 with real momentum—and a legislature that increasingly understands the value pharmacists bring to patient care and cost containment.

Stay tuned. The next chapter is already taking shape.

The next era of pharmacy won’t be defined by product.
It will be defined by people, data, and team-based care.

In 2025, C***ecticut pharmacists demonstrated what this future can look like:
• Collaboration across hospital, community, and ambulatory settings
• New clinical roles in chronic disease management and preventive care
• Strengthened partnerships with physicians, nurses, dentists, and public health leaders
• Technicians stepping into advanced roles that enable pharmacists to practice at full scope

Team-based care isn’t a trend—it’s the standard toward which every successful health system is moving. And pharmacists are essential to its success.

At CPA, we’re focused on building this future:
✓ Advocacy for provider status and fair reimbursement
✓ Workforce transformation initiatives
✓ Leadership development at every career stage
✓ A revitalized CE curriculum centered on modernization, interprofessional care, and health equity

Why it matters:
When pharmacists are fully integrated into the care team, outcomes improve, burnout decreases, and communities get healthier.

2025 moved us closer to the future we’ve imagined.
In 2026, we build it—boldly.

Today I want to spotlight one of the many C***ecticut pharmacists who inspired me this year: Dr. Jennifer Girotto.

In 2025, Jennifer delivered vital, transformative education through our CE series—including immunization advances, pediatric practice updates, and unmet needs in infectious disease stewardship.

But what stands out isn’t just her expertise—it’s her ethos.
Jennifer leads with clarity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to elevating those around her. Her work has strengthened workforce preparedness, advanced immunization best practices, and empowered hundreds of pharmacists and students to step confidently into new clinical roles.

This year:
• She mentored emerging leaders.
• She expanded pharmacists’ impact in public health.
• She modeled what it means to be “stronger at the core.”

Why it matters:
Leadership isn’t a title. It’s the ripple effect we create when we show up, teach generously, and pull others forward with us.

To Jennifer—and to every CPA member who quietly but powerfully shapes the future—thank you.

If you know a pharmacist or technician who deserves to be recognized, tag them below. Let’s amplify the leaders building the next era of practice.
