Warmer weather = more time outside = more tick exposure! 🌲 Connecticut is prime tick territory, so before the kiddos head out to play in a wooded or grassy area, remember:
🧴Apply insect repellent with DEET (10-30%) to skin and clothing
👖Dress in long sleeves and pants when possible
🔎Do a full-body tick check after outdoor time - don't forget behind the ears and knees!
Even in in a highly endemic area like Connecticut, the chances of Lyme transmission is still quite low when a tick is removed within 36 hours of the bite. 🕑 Our nurses are always happy to talk through next steps with you and help with decision making after removing a tick!
Found a tick? Remove it with fine-tipped tweezers, clean the area with warm and soapy water, apply an over the counter antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin or Bacitracin), and call us if you have concerns. 📞
