Although today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we encourage fellow social workers to honor his legacy every day through your advocacy at all levels of social work practice.

"The Time is Always Right To Do What Is Right." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose vision of justice, dignity, and equality continues to guide our work.

At Health Equity Solutions, we are inspired by Dr. King’s call to confront injustice and dismantle systems that perpetuate inequity. His belief that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” reminds us that health equity is a civil rights issue and that access to quality, affordable health care is essential to building a more just and inclusive society.

We recommit ourselves to advancing policies that close gaps in care, center impacted communities, and move us closer to Dr. King’s dream of a healthier, more equitable future for all.

This association will continue to advocate for fair and just immigration policies that can help prevent any further violence and loss of life. We stand with the Minnesota community and echo the NASW Minnesota Chapter's call for elected officials, agency leaders, and policymakers to immediately halt harmful immigration enforcement actions, to demand transparency and accountability, and to invest in community-based approaches that prioritize safety and dignity."

An important update from NASW on the DOE petition that social workers signed.

today delivered a petition to the U.S. Department of Education signed by more than 21,250 Social Workers that urges the agency to classify social work as a professional degree and not a graduate degree. Professional degrees carry higher federal student loan eligibility, and the designation is critical to ensuring the affordability of social work education and the growth of the social work profession, an urgent need given the shortage of mental health providers in the country. New LEAP Act Would End Unfair Loan Limits for & Other Grad Programs

The Loan Equity for Advanced Professionals Act (LEAP ACT H.R. 6574), introduced by Rep. Tim Kennedy (NY-26-D) on Dec 10th ensures graduate students can access the same federal student loan limits as “professional” students. This fixes a Department of Education policy that unfairly restricts borrowing for graduate programs like social work, nursing, and occupational therapy.
