Did you know that the Mann Room carries multi media ?

We have an external CD drive that can be used if you have files on CD that you need to view and or print.

We also have a tape player - you can listen to Rabbit Muse or one of our many patron audio files about the history of Franklin County.

External DVD ReWriter- if you need to burn or save something on to CD pertaining to your family history.

These items are not for check out but can be used in house. If needed please call 540-483-3098 to set up an appointment.

We had such a good time at the rare book viewing this afternoon, I can’t tell you how many times we heard patrons say “ my family is in this book”
It felt as though they had uncovered hidden treasures and that is exactly what genealogy research is. Hope you all enjoy the pictures !

While most of our rare books are related to the history of Virginia and some of our presidents. There will be books at our rare book event for everyone-

Also a little history- did you know the first book ever printed was dated at 868 CE was created with woodblock printing.

Johannes Gutenberg created the Gutenberg Bible around 1455 in Germany with a mechanical printing press with movable metal type that allowed books to be printed more frequently.
