Richard Stephen Renshaw
Richard Stephen Renshaw 60, of Hardy VA, passed away on September 10,2025. He was born in Jacksonville FL on August 1,1965. He was a graduate of Hixson High School, Hixson TN. He attended the University of Tennessee where he became a huge fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. Since his father was in the military, he was able to live in other states which included SC, Hawaii, MS and TN.
Preceding Richard in death were his grandmother Ruth Salaman, his father George Renshaw, his father-in-law Maurice Everette and mother-in-law Lois Everette.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Mary of 37 yrs., his fur baby Bandit and his mother Ruthann Salaman Renshaw, his three sisters (he was the only boy): Cheryl (Allan) Beaver of FL, Debbie (Ed) Duckett of NM, and Gigi (Larry) Brock of FL. He had several nieces and nephews: Thomas (Courtney) Beaver of FL, Caitlin Beaver of FL, Zach (Fiona) Annett of FL, Stephen Duckett of NM, Jessica (Chuck) Price of FL and Hannah (Cole) Stade of NC and their daughter Emilia. He also had a brother-in-law Steve (Connie) Everett of VA.
Richard worked as a manager of Aladdins Castle Game Room in Burlington NC where he met his wife Mary through friends that worked at the game room. He loved working on any type of game machines. Later he decided to become an Electrician and was at this profession for over 30 yrs., half of which was at Shively Electric when they moved from NC to VA. He took great pride in his work and was extremely knowledgeable in this field. He would clearly tell you that he loved working in industrial facilities and that he "didn't do residential".
Richard got his love for cooking from his family, especially his father, and became an excellent cook. On his first date with Mary he made dinner for her and has been cooking for her ever since as she didn't like nor knew how to herself. He loved the country and enjoyed being outside. They both enjoyed working in their yard together. He also loved watching college football live or on TV. When Mary graduated from Elon University, he looked forward to going to their homecoming game. A highlight in recent years was when he would go to a Tennessee Volunteer game with his whole family who were all dressed in orange. He loved animals but his pride and joy was to be with his poodle Bandit. His enjoyment was to sit everyday on the front porch watching Bandit chase after trucks and watching the sunshine over the mountains. He enjoyed woodworking and became very good at it, selling items he made at craft shows and gifting as presents.
Some of the places he enjoyed going were Busch Gardens in VA every year with Mary for their anniversary, Cocoa Beach FL with his entire family for a week vacation and Charleston SC.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the compassion and kindness that was given to Richard at the Carilion Clinic Roanoke Memorial Hospital ICU Trauma Unit.
