Yoga Props

Using props in yoga can be extremely helpful in supporting your body during your practice.

Blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets, walls, and even a chair can help you meet your body where it is in the present moment.

They can make poses more accessible, reduce strain, and allow you to relax into a shape rather than force it.

Props can also help build strength and stability, improve alignment, and give areas of the body a chance to release tension.

Especially in restorative and yin practices, props can create a sense of being held, safe, and supported, allowing the body to rest and the mind to settle.

Yoga isn’t about how flexible you are; it’s about honoring your body with compassion and care.

Let your mind take a break and come back into your body.

So much of life keeps us in our heads. Yoga can help shift our awareness into the present moment through gentle movement and breath. As the body moves and the breath slows, the nervous system can settle, creating a sense of ease and grounding.

Simply showing up for you and moving with awareness is enough.

Legs up the wall/chair is so beneficial for you in so many ways.

It can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, ease tired legs and feet, improve circulation, and gently support lymphatic drainage. It can also help relieve low back tension and promote better sleep.

A few minutes here can help your body soften, your breath slow, and your mind settle. Simple, restorative, and so supportive.

What’s great too is there are so many ways you can do this. With a chair, use the wall or you can even put your legs up a bolster(not shown) don’t have a bolster no worries just stack a bunch of pillows or blankets and place your legs on them. Can’t get to the floor? No worries this can be done on your bed.

It’s okay to just be.

I was reminded of this last night by a friend, after a conversation. I was telling her that I always want to be a light in this world.

She said, “You don’t have to always be a light. You can just be.”

It really hit me, and I thought, yes… this is so true.

As someone who is very empathic and truly wants to show up daily as a light and positive person I know this isn’t realistic. I too need days off to recharge and reset. So hearing that it’s ok to just be sometimes was a good reminder.

So I am sharing this because if you feel like you need to be the light right now, but you’re exhausted, this is your reminder.. You are allowed to just be.

The stillness helps calm the nervous system and release tension.

Beyond the physical benefits, yin encourages mindfulness, patience, and self-compassion creating more ease in both body and mind.

We hold so much in our hips physical tension, stress, and even emotions.

Stretching the hips in yoga isn’t just about flexibility. It helps release tight muscles, improve mobility, and support the low back and knees, improve circulation, posture, making everyday movement can feel easier and lighter.

Over time, gentle hip stretches and mindful movement linked with the breath can also help calm the nervous system and support the release of emotional tension, when we are ready.

This week I will be offering classes to help you pause, breathe and connect to the hips.

It’s okay if you don’t feel the urge to get started on things yet this year.

The holidays are such a whirlwind, and you and your nervous system need time to come down from it and reset.

So if you’re feeling guilty right now for just being and resting, don’t. You deserve it.

Well, 2025… you were a lot. Ups, downs, lessons, and growth. I’m also grateful for the good moments,the trips, the laughs, the memories.

My word this year was becoming, and somewhere along the way, I became clearer about what I no longer want or need in my life. Stepping back showed me what wasn’t serving me anymore.

Lately, one word kept coming up: simplify. And it felt like a deep breath in… and a release.

So as I step into 2026, that’s my intention less noise, more ease, more peace.

Goodbye, 2025. Here’s to hope, alignment, and a gentler year ahead.

Sure, I may be ready for a new year, and some days I find myself ready for the day to be over. But I gently remind myself to come back to the present moment.

When we rush to what’s next, we can miss the quiet, meaningful moments — the small things that often make the biggest difference.

Happy Winter Solstice ❄️🤍

Winter Solstice is a gentle pause in the rhythm of the year—the longest night and a quiet turning point where the light begins to return.

It invites us to slow down, rest, and reflect. To honor the stillness, the darkness, and all that we’ve carried through the year. It’s a time to release and create space for what’s ready to grow next.

May this solstice be a time to breathe deeply, set intentions, and trust that brighter days are unfolding—slowly, steadily, and in their own perfect time. ✨
