Angela Kristie LLC is Northern Michigan's doula and licensed massage therapist. She is trained in providing physical, emotional, and informational support to families before, during, and after childbirth. Angela specializes in perinatal massage, teaching birth classes, creating birth plans and preparing for all aspects of the postpartum period.
She strives to make your journey through birth and beyond the most rewarding and satisfying experience possible.

Angela is able to bill multiple Medicaid plans for doula services. Reach out and see what she can offer!

Meet Motherhood Mecca Member Abbey:
Abbey Tulgestke, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
Abbey Tulgestke is a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor with over five years of experience in the counseling field. After serving in the United States Marine Corps from 2012 to 2018, Abbey transitioned into the mental health field with a passion for helping others. She earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling and is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan.
Abbey has pursued specialized training in perinatal and postnatal mental health, and she is particularly passionate about supporting postpartum women as they navigate the challenges of motherhood. Abbey's approach is centered on empowering her clients to set and achieve realistic goals that foster a smoother and more fulfilling transition into motherhood.
Outside of her professional life, Abbey enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling, teaching dance, and indulging in a good book—ranging from self-help to light-hearted romantic comedies. She is eager to meet new clients and is committed to supporting them through any postpartum challenges they may face.

Meet Motherhood Mecca Member Valerie:

Valerie Meharg, LM, CPM is a licensed midwife and owner of Lineage Midwifery LLC in Rogers City. She offers home and birth center birth options for families all over northern Michigan. Valerie's own experiences with pregnancy, birth, and motherhood created a passion and dedication for midwifery and serving families. A major goal is to increase the availability and access to midwifery in northern Michigan by training future midwives and supporting legislative efforts to advance the profession.

Introducing Motherhood Mecca member Shelby:

Shelby Carrier M.A. SLP, LC is a licensed speech language pathologist at Lakeside Language LLC. Challenges in her personal life lead to her special interests for her career. Shelby specializes in orofacial myofunctional disorders and is a certified lactation counselor. Shelby's favorite aspect of therapy is helping new and experienced moms when they run into speed bumps with their breastfeeding journey. Shelby's main goal is to ensure moms feel heard and supported while providing evidence based care.

Our mission is to serve as an information and support network for northern Michigan families and the professionals who serve them. Our interdisciplinary team tirelessly works to achieve connections among and between both groups in order to grow the network and build community where it is needed the most.
