He was not only a dedicated teacher who shared his knowledge freely, but also a guiding mentor who encouraged others to grow with confidence and compassion. To those who knew him, Bob was more than a colleague—he was a true friend, always offering support, laughter, and wisdom. His legacy will live on in the students he taught, the professionals he inspired, and the many friends who will forever cherish his memory. Fly high sweet friend, we will take it from here.

EMS providers are you awake yet???? This council was NOT a “DEI” organization nor was it a stagnant one!!! These physicians actually cared about BOOTS ON THE GROUND through reimbursement, education, creating a sustainable EMS, and were making the most progress EMS has seen in decades! Now you have no one representing your needs at a federal level. Grants are being pulled blindly. Medicaid revenue loss WILL impact # of trucks on the street and your pay, etc, etc. Regardless of what political side you land on, set aside the rhetoric, and honestly take a hard look at these changes.

🚨 Breaking EMS News 🚨

The entire 25-member National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (NEMSAC) has been terminated, effective immediately, by NHTSA’s Office of EMS.

USDOT says it’s part of a broader effort to “refresh” federal advisory committees. A spokesperson added that some panels “have lost sight of the mission and have been overrun with individuals whose sole focus is their radical DEI and climate agenda.”

Applications and nominations are now open for the new council.

Join us in congratulating one of our own!

Last night, Mayor George McGill honored Captain Josh Edwards with the City's Spirit of Service Award.

Captain Edwards was recognized for going above and beyond in his dedication to helping others. In addition to his role as a firefighter, he serves as an educator for EMS personnel, teaches aerial ladder courses, and maintains the continuing education program for medical training at the fire department. He also teaches CPR at local churches and to foster families, and he works with local high school students who are interested in careers in emergency services—helping to inspire and prepare the next generation of first responders.

Captain Edwards recently put his training into action and saved the life of a fellow EMS professional who was suffering from a severe anaphylactic reaction.

We are proud to have leaders like Captain Edwards in the Fort Smith Fire Department.
