As we "spring" into the third month of the year, we wanted to continue our celebration of residents and staff!

This week, we shine a spotlight on Ninetta Potts, a beloved resident whose life is rooted in family, faith, and lasting memories.

Born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Ninetta had a "good, normal" childhood. A fond memory from her younger years is walking miles to swim at the country club with her cousin Rose. She later worked at the movie theater, where she met her husband, a regular at the theater. "I developed a silly, giggly girl crush on him," she remembers with a smile.

Ninetta's favorite decade was the 1950s, when she enjoyed raising her children: one son, Rick, and three daughters, Jan, Stephanie, and Aliss. She values the importance of family and faith, recalling holiday gatherings with relatives and a strong church-going upbringing. "We always went to church," she shares, noting how her faith helped guide her as a mother. One of the most heartwarming stories from her past is how her mother used her paycheck to buy clothes and shoes for less fortunate children at school—a gesture of kindness that has stayed with Ninetta.

Today, Ninetta enjoys walking and visiting with friends. She believes true happiness comes from within, saying, "Peace of mind is what makes me happy." Her advice to younger generations is simple: "Always have a great relationship with your parents."

To Ninetta, family and church are the most important things in life, and she continues to pass down the values of honesty and love to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her life is a testament to the power of strong foundations and the peace found in cherished connections.

This Month's Employee Spotlight is Nicole Orr!

Nicole Orr, a dedicated member of our Human Resources team, has been with the company for 1 ½ years. With 22 years of experience as a CNA in various healthcare roles, Nicole transitioned to HR to continue making a difference in people’s lives. She thrives in the fast-paced nature of her work, where she’s able to build positive relationships with staff and residents, improving morale and fostering a supportive environment.

Nicole’s proudest accomplishment since joining the team was receiving zero deficiencies on the Licensure Survey, a testament to her hard work and commitment. Despite facing challenges early on, including starting with no formal HR training, Nicole overcame them by seeking learning opportunities and growing from her mistakes. She is now focused on becoming more diligent with tasks to continue her professional development.

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with her family in the great outdoors. Looking ahead, she aims to purchase land and build her forever home while pursuing her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification. Nicole’s advice for others looking to grow in their careers is to embrace new challenges and never give up—a mindset that has helped her thrive in both her personal and professional life.

To celebrate National Activity Professional's Week, Rogers Health and Rehabilitation Center would like to honor our Activity Director!

Johana Colindres has been with us for 7 years as an Activity Director, where her passion for making residents happy shines through in every activity she plans. She takes great pride in breaking residents out of their routines and ensuring their time is filled with joy and meaningful engagement. Her most rewarding moments come from seeing their smiles, especially during large events like Thanksgiving and Christmas, despite the hard work involved. Johana ensures her activities are tailored to the residents' interests, actively listening to their suggestions during Resident Council meetings.

Outside of work, Johana enjoys running, watching movies with her family, and finding time to relax. She advises others considering this career to be patient, caring, and cheerful, and to leave personal issues outside. Johana’s creativity and multitasking skills have grown tremendously over the years, and she’s motivated by putting herself in the residents' shoes. Looking ahead, Johana dreams of creating a fish pond for the facility, combining her love for the residents with a unique activity. Her positivity and dedication make her an invaluable part of our team, and we’re lucky to have her!
