NWArMHCA

NWArMHCA The Northwest Arkansas chapter of the Arkansas Mental Health Counselors Association Guests are always welcome to come join us!

The purpose of NWArMHCA is to recruit, unify and organize the practice of mental health counseling so as to add to a unified voice to advocate and advance the profession of mental health counseling in coordination with the state association (ArMHCA). NWArMHCA is a great way for NWA area counselors to socialize, network, and earn CEUs. We meet once every other month at the John Brown University campus in Rogers for a 2 hour CE program (10am to noon). We meet on the 3rd Saturday of every other month (Jan/Mar/May/July/Sept/Nov).

THIS Saturday (Sept 20)!!

2 CE hours: "Helping Clients Change: A Therapist's Guide to Using the Stages of Change to Assess and Support Client Transformation" presented by Josh Helm, LPC

Saturday, Sept. 20th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in-person at Pure Balance Mind Body, 3608 Southern Hills Blvd., Unit #4, Rogers, Arkansas.

Please pre-register for the workshop by noon on Friday, September 19th for easy sign-in. The pre-registration link is:
https://forms.gle/uGgVNS2WGwAuFazA9
We do take walk-ins.

We take cash and check only at the workshop. The workshop is $20.00 for Non-members/Guests. Members are free. We do not have a PayPal account any longer.

Description:
Ever feel like you’re working harder than your client? Like you're offering insights… but nothing is landing?
You're not alone. You're just out of sync with their stage of change. This CEU event will be a clinically grounded guide that helps therapists align with where clients truly are—whether they're wrestling with life-level transformation or avoiding that one tiny behavior shift. Built on the Stages of Change model (minus the jargon), this will give you the tools to spot resistance without pathologizing it, recognize emotional pacing cues, and avoid the classic pitfalls of working too far ahead—or behind—a client’s actual readiness.

You'll learn:
How to track change at the nervous system level, not just in words
Why rupture and resistance often come from therapist overreach
How to hold both big ambivalence and micro-decisions in session
What attunement really means when clients say “I don’t know”
Scripts, strategies, and mindset shifts that immediately improve traction in therapy

Plus: real humor, zero therapist-shaming, and the kind of insight you’ll wish you’d had in grad school.
Whether you're a new therapist still finding your rhythm or a seasoned clinician wanting deeper traction with “stuck” clients—This CEU event will change the way you pace therapy, hold the room, and move forward with your clients, not ahead of them.
