If you or someone you know intimately has ADHD, then you might notice that you/they might struggle with emotional regulation. This is a brief overview of why it's a struggle. ADHDers struggle with executive functioning (such as planning, organizing, motivation, time blindness, focusing, etc.), which can pile on the ADHDer and can cause emotional dysregulation.

Working on something new for my clients. There is such little information out there for people who have chronic illness or physical disabilities that I have decided to put together a workbook that might be helpful for them to navigate their diagnosis. This is in the works right now. Hoping to provide this as a resource in the next coming months.

After a lot of thinking and talking to other individuals, I have decided to start the EMDR certification process and focus on chronic illness & pain as well as trauma. I'm looking forward to learning more about EMDR and how to help my clients who struggle in these areas!

PTSD is known for affecting soldiers in combat; however, the reality of it is that people fight battles in their heads of past trauma everyday and never went into an actual battlefield where guns were blazing. PTSD is so much more than people think it is.

PTSD is more than just the event itself. If PTSD was about a traumatic event, then a lot more people would be struggling with it. PTSD is more about how a person responds to the event. The way a person responds to a traumatic event is determined by attachment styles that are developed as an infant/child, while also being influenced by genetics, previous trauma, other mental health conditions, social support, family history, gender (females are more likely to develop PTSD than males), substance use, and job exposure.

If you know someone who has PTSD or someone you might suspect has PTSD, check in on them.
