Kimberly chose to pursue a role as a Patient Care Coordinator because she loves helping people in any way that she can and because she is eager to grow with POST. She wrote, "I chose POST because not only do I love children, but I also love the values that POST stands for."

👯 Fun Facts about Kimberly? She has an identical twin sister, she and her husband have 6 kids all together, and she is very goofy.

👋🎉 Please join us in welcoming Amanda (back) to our POST family!

Amanda was one of our students and then an SLP-Assistant before she re-joined our team.

She wrote, "I chose to become a speech-language pathologist because I love that this field allows me to dive into the science of communication while also forming genuine connections with the children and families I serve. I love the “puzzle” of identifying where a child needs support and thoughtfully weaving those goals into their unique interests. I strongly believe that play is the work of a child (shoutout to Maria Montessori!), and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful child-led, play-based therapy can be in fostering meaningful language growth."

Amanda is always open to learning new things, especially gestalt language processing and working with the neurodivergent community. She is passionate about meeting children where they are and supporting communication in ways that respect their individuality and natural language development.

She shared, "I’ve had the unique opportunity to experience POST both as a student and as an SLPA, and I always find myself coming back. I deeply value POST’s commitment to interprofessional collaboration and its child-led, neurodiverse-affirming approach to both assessment and intervention. Being part of a team that prioritizes individualized, strengths-based care is incredibly meaningful to me!"

A fun fact about Amanda is that she collects houseplants and currently has around 20! (Although, she won’t disclose how many of them might be hanging on by a thread.)

One of our favorite ways to celebrate Black History Month is through books! These are some books we recommend that highlight Black history, culture, and achievement:
📚 Mae Among the Stars by Roda Ahmed highlights the true story of Mae C. Jemison, the first African-American woman to travel to space, inspiring young readers to follow their dreams in science and beyond.

📚Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison features 40 exceptional Black women, from historical figures to contemporary leaders, celebrating their accomplishments and contributions to Black history and the world.

📚Parker Looks Up: An Extraordinary Moment by Parker Curry and Jessica Curry (with illustrations by Brittany Jackson) is based on the viral photo of a young Black girl, Parker, marveling at the portrait of Michelle Obama, symbolizing Black representation and inspiration in powerful spaces.
