Update: 02-21-26 🚹 Lengthy but very important update! When you are typing so much instead of speaking it is much longer. So we aplogize in advance if you are a person that does not like to read.

It’s been a while since there has been an update so this will be a lengthy update as a lot has been going on, on our end.

Thursday evening Dwayne was just walking to the kitchen following after me and he sneezed 4-5 times back to back. As that happened he felt a popping or cracking feeling. With the background of fractures over things that should not normally break so easily with the diagnosis of multiple myeloma we were a lil concerned especially with him needing meds for feeling pain in an area of his back afterwards.

Fast forward to the next morning which was Friday 2/20 around 8am Dwayne came back from the restroom to get back in the bed and he was having a hard time breathing. He said he could not expand chest with breathing. It got worse quickly to where he was gasping so to speak at times trying to get his breathe back. I can only imagine that feeling he had & watching it from my end feeling helpless and terrifying. After contacting his doctor as well as our children & others to be praying along with our plan for him to go to the hospital by ambulance as we needed to avoid the emergency rooms with his immune compromised.

At the hospital they ordered labs and done a CT of lungs, ribs and back. All came back that everything was okay. No fractures, no bony spurs etc. Praise be to God!!! The NP stated he believes Dwayne pulled a muscle in his ribs. Dwayne was prescribed steroids, muscle relaxers and lidocaine patches to help with inflammation.

📱Now for the most important update‌

As most of you know that has been following along for almost 3 yrs since Dwayne’s diagnosis April 7th 2023. You have heard us talk about all the fractures and kidneys shutting down that multiple myeloma attacks being a blood cancer. He had 6-7 fractures upon finding out as well as renal failure. BUT GOD, He brought Dwayne’s kidneys back to normal and they’ve stayed that way through out this time! â€ïžđŸ™ŒđŸ»đŸ™đŸ»

We have needed much help from others through this season of our lives and we are so very grateful for everyone’s help & support! We have trusted God with every area of our lives including our health and finances. He has used several of you, maybe at different times to pull us through. Those of you that have unfortunately had to experience the financial burden yourselves that cancer brings or rather had someone you love experience it, you have seen first hand the chaos it brings to your lives and the burden of finances on top of it.

In 2024, Dwayne had a stem cell transplant. Most of you were here to watch updates. The stem cell transplant is basically where they take your stem cells and give them back to you after high doses of chemotherapy. We were hoping & expecting total remission for many years based on doctors results of some cases. During the time that it does normally have the myeloma knocked down to almost nothing which would have been complete total remission after 100 days, that check up from transplant Dwayne’s PET scan showed a large mass in his colon, which is a complete separate issue from the multiple myeloma diagnosis. The doctor suspected 95 % this mass was a colon cancer as well, even after removing in surgery to be sent off and tested, BUT GOD! Results came back negative for cancer with high grade displaysia, which means it was on its way if not caught in time. So God had went before us and worked it all out for our good! Shew He is a good, good Father! Amen?! During the time after the transplant waiting for the time period of testing, having to have a colonoscopies, colectomy, and recovery time for all that Dwayne had not taken any maintenance chemotherapy which is crucial to maintain a remission after a stem cell transplant. So he had a short window period of remission that did not last.

Now during the time of the preparing & during this stem cell transplant itself, it required alot of needs. Always separate trips to UT for all the tests before to make sure you can have the transplant, valet fees because there’s NEVER parking at UT and it is much easier for anyone dealing with health issues of walking, stays in hotels either during collections & after transplant to be close by hospital for a period of time, food to eat during a 16-17 day hospital stay, need to wash clothes from the hospital stay, and prescriptions are just to name a few off the top of our head. Just all the things, that included a lot of preparation as well. We got ventilation cleaned and disinfected prior to the transplant as the rental we are in looked like it had never been done. We purchased 2 air purifiers to help with germs. It was also recommended by coordinator to bring enough towels for atleast 2 wks for the both of us with hospital stay when he had the stem cell transplant.

All that to say all the prayers everyone prayed, all the support you all sent we say thank you, thank you so much for having an obedient heart for what God placed on your hearts that in return made a way for us. You were used as an answer to our prayers! To the angel that helped provide fees for the hotel after stem cell transplant we can never thank you enough! You were a God send! No one knew but we were released with no funds yet just a card to put on file an God used this total stranger we’ve never met to pay for the hotel with enough to wash laundry while there and get some food delivered to us. We have so many stories of how God used everyone as an angel to help us at different times no matter what amount you had given because it always added up and provided the way when there was no way!

Okay, now I have to be careful how I word these next parts!
The two chemotherapies Dwayne has been receiving has not been working like it should and so the specialist recommended something kinda similar to the stem cell transplant but is not a stem cell transplant. Papers Dwayne signed stated of what he will receive is not to be on social media! We do not want to risk anything from him being able to go through with this line of treatment. That being said we also are in need of major needs with help again, with all the things that requires much of the same needs we needed before, during and after last years stem cell transplant. We have been told such promising results that if it worked Dwayne would NEVER have to take maintenance chemotherapy, just check ups. That would mean “he would have his life back”, Dwayne’s words. We are ready for this to happen and get on with the plans the Lord has for us to do! This line of treatment would require hospital stay for atleast 2wks and all the things like the stem cell transplant required last year and has some serious side effects that are supposed to be short term such as Parkinson’s like tremors, brain fog like not being able to speak, write or comprehend questions or tasks.

So we desperately need your prayers fervently number one! Two, those of you that can reach in your pockets to help fund any amount will help us get though this as well as make sure regular bills are paid while preparing all the things before hand, during and after. Now GoFundMe takes out a percentage. PayPal, Cash App, Venmo does not on the option on our end to not get instant and chose option to wait 1-3 days for the funds. We are going to share ALL links below on ways to donate. You do not have to to have a PayPal account in order to donate through PayPal. You can donate as a guest by credit/debit.

We are praying that everyone that has a heart for this situation with us, that God lays it on your hearts to give when you can, any amount, and will be obedient. We were going to try to see if anyone could help us through a fundraiser of some sort but we weren’t given that needed time. We had thought of trying to sell support tshirts like the in beginning of diagnosis but again we don’t have the needed time as this is moving quickly. We are sorry we can’t provide more of the details just yet but afterwards a period of time we are thinking we should then be able to share and will have great news with answered prayers!
We love & so appreciate each and everyone of you! Please pray about what you can help with between now, the middle of March through April as that is time of preparing right before March’s testing the first week, and after for the other steps of which we can’t speak of details of treatments & processes prior to the hospital stay and after hospital stay to be near hospital a few days to a week.

If u are not able to help by donating, we could still use your help through prayers and by sharing the post far and wide đŸ™đŸ»

Y’all Dwayne has been a trooper today getting his ivig infusion that takes 2 1/2 hours to run through. The office called from last blood work that he needed the ivig & so he wanted to get it this week just in case the weather would prevent it for next week. He’s been nauseous, so I’ve given him his nausea medicine but y’all just keep him in your prayers.

He has been sleepy from the Benadryl, nausea from the oral chemo pill that he is on for 21 days on & 7 day off each month. Today is day 12 for this month. He is scheduled to come back for labs, follow up and the chemo shot next week if weather permits. Those in your prayer room help us battle all this with your prayers. We love you all & thank you so much for your supportđŸ«¶đŸ»

Even the toughest of soldiers get tired & weary at times at we dont consider ourselves the toughest. Praise God that we dont stay that way & that He gives us the strength needed to endure along. ❀

Update 12/04/2025

Dwayne wanted to do a quick video update after he just got back from the cancer care center for follow up, labs and chemtherapy shot. The oncologist says the myeloma panel numbers have went up but he is waiting for a couple more months of this higher dose oral chemotherapy at home to see if numbers will come down. If not his recommendation is to get back to specialist at UT to see about trying something else. Dwayne’s immune levels were very low today from labs as you hear him talk of how they stressed that if the oral chemo keeps lowering immune they may have to put hold on that chemotherapy.

But we know God is “the healer”. We appreciate the doctors and meds to use for tools to help and we pray for those to help heal & not harm in Jesus name. We trust God, it is all in His hands!

Also, Dwayne has had a dry cough for a few weeks that is much better now. But while in the waiting for the ct of his chest to be scheduled & the appt itself we prayed & had some others praying, interceding on our behalf, and agreeing with us for a good report. We did not want to even speak any thing negative of infection, or pneumonia in existence so we did not post about it. He however had the ct done & it came back clear! Praise God! đŸ™ŒđŸ»

We just want to thank you for all your prayers, sharing our posts and for any help you have helped us with.

These past 2 years & 8 months have been tough no doubt about it. Not with just the diagnosis but seems like whatever else the enemy could throw out on top of it, he has, BUT GOD!!!! Those two words are a million words in two words for us 😭
We thank God that He has been with us EVERY step of the way. He’s always given us strength, fortified our faith, stretched us with more growth, has kept His hands on us and has always provided through others.
Thank God there is financial assistance for the chemos or there’s no way anyone could afford the numbers you will hear Dwayne tell of just the one chemotherapy shot.

We ask you to please keep praying, add to your church prayer lists and help share the post.

Thank you! We love you all & hope you all have a Merry Christmas! ❀❀

This an update I thought I posted here on facebook as well, but apparently I only updated on gofundme page, so this update is from 10/30/25

Dwayne has been going to the cancer center every other week for the chemotherapy shot there as well as taking an oral chemo pill at home 21 days on with 7 days off every month. Dwayne seen the specialist at UT on 10/15. The doctor spoke that even though Dwayne’s number has continued to increase in one of the myeloma panels, the ratio has came down by 11 points, so we will take it and be thankful for that. Also specialist will be increasing the oral chemo pill for home 5mg more each month and depending how all the chemotherapies work, then he can maybe decrease the chemotherapy shot at the cancer to once a month instead of every other week.
Dwayne has had some nausea, headaches and slight fever recently. Dwayne’s immune levels were way too low so he also had to get ivig infusion today. Two weeks ago he was also given the zometa infusion for his bones. Please keep Dwayne & our family in your prayers. We have been struggling already and this new month has come with some extra financial stress. This past week has been very overwhelming with so much on my end, and so I could really use some prayers as well, please.
We realize money is tight for a lot of people right now but if you feel a tug in your heart to help us with any amount it would be greatly appreciated and we know God will bless you in return. We hate continually having to rely on help from others and being looked at now as the couple always in need, but for now this is what God has allowed us to walk through in our lives and so we will trust in Him through all of this.

God is our only hope & believing for a miracle for Dwayne as there is no cure for this type of cancer, as our only hope to help make a way financially through those that will be obedient to what God lays on other’s hearts. If you are unable to help financially, please keep us in your prayers and pass along either our GoFundMe, Venmo, paypal or cash app to someone that may be able to help with some financial support. Please hold your loved ones a little tighter & make sure they know they are loved as life can change suddenly. God Bless

Update 09-12-2025
Trying for the third time to post due to the app freezing and erasing everything typed twice already.

Dwayne and I would like to first, personally say thank you to the person that mailed this letter in your card. This has blessed us more than you know! Thank you to everyone that has mailed a card or letter of encouragement to Dwayne! It has been needed more than anyone knows. Dwayne goes through the emotions of thinking about all the unknowns, feelings of the life he had when he started each day working to provide for his family, and dealing with the feelings of fighting this demonic diagnosis and how it has changed his life suddenly, robbing him from so much.

Most that have seen Dwayne or his update pictures, say “ he looks good”, and he does! đŸ„° Praise God! But behind closed doors and behind the pictures lays a man that struggles to get his own shoes on, to get up and down. I’m sure people that he walks by would never know what all he’s been through these past 31 months and still going through. From the begining with all the fractures, chemos and transplant it takes a toll on person’s body. It is hard when you see someone you love trying so hard not to let people see their physical struggles. It’s that much harder for a man to let people see the struggle.

Today Dwayne took his last oral chemo pill for the 2nd month cycle. He will have a 7 day break from it but has to be at the cancer center Wednesday for the intravenous chemo treatment.
Last visit Dwayne was told that his myeloma panel numbers is still rising even after all the extra and added treatments. He was also told that it usually takes 2-3 months to see if it is working to bring the numbers down. So one more month of treatments until he goes to see the specialist at UT to see what is the next step. The oral chemo makes Dwayne very fatigued. He doesn’t feel like doing much usually although he did get his bass guitar to play in the bed a couple days ago. That’s the first time in about a year. đŸ™đŸ»

We have been dreading the fall & winter seasons only because of the isolation that came with it last year. With school back in full swing with sicknesses making its rounds again we have had to start a little more stricter precautions again due to his immune levels. When you are isolated from others you start to feel alone even when you know you’re not.

Tomorrow will be our 22nd Anniversary! We are so thankful to be blessed enough to spend another year together! 💞

With this diagnosis we have continual financial burdens every month. We have had no choice but to trust God while wondering who He will use each time to help make a way. By the time you get relief that God did again this month then it’s time to start all over again with the next month. So it’s a constant stress as you can imagine. We have had several extra expenses this month on top of the normal expenses such as post office box fees for the year due at the end of the month, oil change in vehicle that’s been over due, filters need replaced in the air purifiers that is ran for Dwayne as well as both filters in the home for the hvac system and of course prescriptions.

The enemy usually tries wearing us down with lots of things that nobody knows but us as we don’t mention to others. It’s usually one of the smaller things that make us break down right when you are feeling like you can’t take one more thing. Just like our microwave issue. đŸ€ŠđŸŒâ€â™€ïž We finally got the money to try to fix it and it did not work this time. You don’t realize how much you use one til you don’t have one. But these smaller things become big things to us when we are already dealing with all the stresses of all the bigger issues. Maybe one day once God gets us through this we will share testifying of all the things. It will blow your minds of all the things that happen all at once on top of everything else at hand. For every fiery dart the enemy throws we can also speak of how God got us through and how. Many of you are part of the how’s when you have opened up your hearts being the hands and feet of Jesus to help us.

If you feel led to help lighten some of the burdens this month you can donate any amount through Paypal, Cash App, Venmo or GoFundMe. Every amount is appreciated. GoFundme takes a small percentage of donation.

Update: 8/8/25 & Testimony time

We just wanted to say a big “Thank You” for each and every person that prayed for Dwayne & agreeing for a good report on his test which was today!

God’s hand was all over every part of today. The nurses prayed with Dwayne prior to the taking him to the procedure room. Then the doctor came in and prayed with him as well! They put Dwayne asleep as usual for the colonoscopy and when he awoke they couldn’t wait to tell him that they could not find ANYTHING that the PET scan previously showed! Praise God! Prayers still work & God is a good!

Now as far as the multiple myeloma side of things they are saying that Dwayne’s body is 5 % of it, BUT we will keep believing and praying for verifiable healing there too! Just because there isn’t a cure does not mean they can limit God! Dwayne was 80 % upon the original diagnosis and 8 % prior to the transplant. They are using two different chemos to try to bring the levels down for remission. We need everyone to keep praying for a miracle from the only healer Jesus Christ! Believe with us! We are so so thankful today!
