Our Choices For People family is growing!

We are looking for some amazing people to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) AND we are hiring for a Chief Development Officer (CDO)

At Choices for People our goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to make their own choices and lead fulfilling lives.

You will get to help individuals connect with their goals, their work, and their community.

We want to take a moment to spotlight Brittany Whittington!

Brittany is a Direct Support Professional and Journeyworker, and she has been part of the Choices for People team for just over three years. In that time, she has made a real impact through her consistency, patience, and care for the individuals we support.

As a Journeyworker and Direct Support Professionals, Brittany is a fully trained professional who not only supports individuals day to day, but also helps guide and mentor others. She leads by example, shows what quality support looks like, and helps build confidence and independence in the people around her. This role takes skill, trust, and heart and Brittany brings all three.

Professionals like Brittany are truly the backbone of our organization. The relationships they build and the stability they provide make a meaningful difference for the people we serve.

We are so thankful for everything Brittany does and are proud to have her on our team. Thank you, Brittany, for the dedication you bring to Choices for People 💙

In many communities, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are often forgotten. There simply aren't enough organizations dedicated to giving them everything they need to succeed in life.

That's the gap Choices for People fills.

We got our start back in 1957 and expanded our mission to serve all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 1994.

Today, we are proud to offer a complete spectrum of services, including day programs, residential living, employment support, independent living support, and community integration.
This year, we’ve expanded from four locations to seven, now serving:

❤️Salem
❤️Jefferson City
❤️Versailles
❤️Houston
❤️Sullivan

We are growing, but we are absolutely committed to maintaining that personal connection with everyone we serve.

We got to help Santa deliver presents to over 15 homes, making sure our individuals felt the holiday joy this season.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. It’s about showing up, being present, and making sure everyone feels remembered and celebrated this season. ❤️🎁

Today we had a Polar Express movie day and it was such a fun way to spend time together.

Days like this mean a lot to us, and we’re so happy to share a few photos from it with everyone.

We are so thankful to have celebrated the holidays with more than 150 individuals at our Christmas party this year. Seeing so many smiles and laughter all in one room made this day incredibly special for our team.

Santa and Mrs. Claus even made a surprise visit, which brought so much excitement to everyone there.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do and how meaningful it is to come together as a community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration one to remember. ❤️

Individuals from our Rolla and Pulaski County Day Services recently got together for The FUN (Friends United Now) outing in Pulaski County.

It was a great day to spend time with friends, get out into the community, and just enjoy being together. Moments like these matter.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this and for the connections they help create.

We want to introduce you all to Frank…

One thing about Frank is he loves books and sharing his passion at the Rolla Library where he reads to kids. He helps them with crafts, listens to their stories, and spends time with them like it’s just a normal part of his week.

And that’s what makes it important.

He isn’t there for attention or praise. He’s there because he enjoys it, because it gives him a place in the community, and because those kids enjoy having him there.

At Choices for People, this is the kind of life we support. Building real connections and helping them be a part of the community in ways that actually matter.

This isn’t a program or an activity.

It’s Frank being Frank and doing what he loves.

We want to say a big thank you to Phelps County Bank for all of the support they show for our mission and our community.

They’ve always been willing to step up and help, and that support makes a real difference for the individuals we serve. It also says a lot about the kind of people they are and how much they care about this community.
