Welcome to Fall at TCIL

As the seasons change, Tri-County Center for Independent Living (TCIL) continues to stand beside individuals with disabilities, veterans, and families across our region. Our mission is simple: to empower people to live independently, with dignity, choice, and control over their own lives.

All TCIL services are provided at no cost to eligible consumers, and our staff and peer mentors are here to support you every step of the way.

TCIL's Five Core Independent Living Services

TCIL is built on five essential services that help people gain and maintain independence:

Advocacy

We help individuals stand up for their rights, access benefits, and navigate systems such as housing, healthcare, and education.

Independent Living Skills Training

We teach practical skills like budgeting, cooking, transportation use, self-advocacy, and managing a household.

Information & Referral

We connect you to local, state, and national resources for housing, employment, healthcare, transportation, and more.

Peer Support

Our staff and mentors bring lived experience, offering encouragement, understanding, and real-world guidance.

Transition Services

We help people move successfully between life stages—whether from school to work, or from a nursing facility back into the community.

Youth Transition Services

TCIL supports young people with disabilities as they prepare for adulthood. Our youth transition program helps build confidence and independence through:

• Post-secondary education support (college, trade school, or training programs)

• Independent living skills

' Job skills development and employment readiness

' Peer mentoring and leadership development

We believe every young person deserves the tools to succeed in school, work, and life.

Youth Spotlight

A young man in our community was struggling to keep up with his in-class work. One of TCIL's Board members, who is also an educator, stepped in to provide tutoring and academic support. With consistent encouragement and one-on-one help, he is now thriving in his classes and beginning to think seriously about his long-term educational goals. Stories like this remind us that the right support can change a life.

HOPE In-Home Services

TCIL's Home Outreach for Personal Excellence (HOPE) program provides in-home assistance to help you stay safe and independent in your own home. Services may include personal care, hygiene, household tasks, and daily living support — always delivered with dignity and respect.

Veteran & Veteran Directed Care Services

TCIL proudly serves those who served our country. We offer:

' VA In-Home Services

• Veteran Directed Care (VDC) —a newer program that allows veterans to choose and direct their own caregivers

These programs give veterans greater control and flexibility in how they receive care.

Show Me Home — Nursing Home Transition

Our Show Me Home program helps eligible individuals move out of nursing homes and back into their own homes or community living. TCIL assists with planning, housing, setup, and community connections — all at no cost to those who qualify.

DME Loan Program & Necessity Items

TCIL offers a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Loan Program, providing short-term access to items such as walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, and other mobility aids.

We also help with necessity items such as hygiene supplies, incontinence products, and basic household needs when available.

Case Management — What Sets TCIL Apart

Unlike many Consumer Directed Services (CDS) providers, TCIL offers personalized case management. Our staff work closely with each consumer to make sure services match individual goals, needs, and lifestyles — not just paperwork.

Winter Wellness Tips

As colder weather approaches:

Dress in warm layers and keep blankets nearby

Eat healthy, warm meals

Stay hydrated

Make sure heaters and vents are safe and clear

Call TCIL if you need help with warm clothing, blankets, or winter essentials — we can help connect you with resources

A new park is coming to Southeast Lebanon — because voters chose it.

About three years ago, Lebanon residents approved the Parks & Storm Water Sales Tax. That vote came with a clear tradeoff the community supported: invest in parks and stormwater improvements 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼. This new park is part of delivering on what voters approved.

Plans are now moving forward. A location has been identified near 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁, and we’re inviting the community to help shape what comes next.

From playgrounds and walking paths to green space and amenities for all ages, your input will help guide the design. You can also learn more about the project on our Engage page.

There is NO COST to you if you have Medicaid. We also offer Private Pay Services and a VA Program for In-Home Services. TCIL is a not-for-profit organization designed to assist people with disabilities, to achieve and maintain as much independence as they wish, in the setting of their choice, so they can lead a more independent life.

Some of the duties that in-home aides/attendants can provide include: Light housekeeping, personal care, dressing and grooming, bathing assistance, laundry, meal prep, shopping and errands, dusting, wash dishes, clean bath, clean floors and mobility transfer.
