Mrs. Sharon Ann Sykes

Mrs. Sharon Ann Sykes, age 66, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Sykes was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 22, 1959, daughter of Linton Lewis Mathews and Mamie Hoskins Mathews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Sykes.

Mrs. Sykes was known for her talent at doing just about anything she set her mind to. She worked hard as a child on her studies and was a shining example of a scholar. It started with her love of writing and she continued to even write short stories in adulthood. It is said that as a young student, she would sometimes write her siblings essays in school! Sharon went on to attend and graduate from Clayton State College where her love of writing also carried over to a love of artistry. It was in her spare time that she would sit and draw and her talent again shown through there as well. Sharon met the love of her life, Howard Sykes, whom she would marry and faithfully love for over 30 years, until his passing. Her loving and kind demeanor shown thru in their home. She was always welcoming and her open door policy for anyone who needed a place, no matter the circumstances, was widely known and appreciated by those she gave a landing spot to. Sharon was a go getter and loved to stay physically fit. Her coworkers at Georgia Tech would watch as she walked the campus instead of eating on her lunch break most days. She wanted to make sure to take good care of herself, just like she did for those around her. She only had one thing that would irritate her, and that was being awakened - everyone knew Sharon loved her sleep almost as much as she loved her family! It's all these things and more that were so special about Sharon that will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate to know her and love her.

Survivors include one son, Ricky (Donna) Sykes; two grandchildren, Keahri Sykes and Jayden Sykes; parents, Mamie Hoskins Mathews and Linton Lewis Mathews; two sisters, Linda Franklin and Mitzi Allen; two brothers, Linton Mathews Jr. and Tyrell Mathews; three nieces, Jaasiel Allen, Brittany Mathews, and Tamia Mathews; two nephews, Tyrell Mathews Jr. and John Franklin; two special friends, Ernesto and Porsche; extended family and friends also survive.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Sykes was cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Claudia Ann Steinacker

Mrs. Claudia Ann Steinacker, age 58, of New Hudson, Michigan, and formerly of Pasco County, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side at a local hospital.

Mrs. Steinacker was born in Elk Grove, Illinois, on August 23, 1967, to the late Joseph Alex Depa and Dolores Yzaguirre Depa.

Mrs. Steinacker was known for the heart she had for children, which led her to know from an early age that education would be her future. She was an accomplished, ambitious person and it drove her on to earning her PHD in Education. She worked at Pasco County Schools in Florida for over 30 years not only holding the title of teacher, but then Assistant Principal and ended her career as Head Principal. Although she wasn't able to birth a child of her own, she more than made up for it by the countless number of children she "Mothered" throughout her personal and professional life. Claudia was everything a good Mother should be. She led by example, wanted those around her to be the very best they could be, and loved nothing more than to see people succeed. She had a huge capacity to love unconditionally, without judgement, and didn't believe in holding grudges. She was quick to give forgiveness, mercy, and grace and she lit up every room she walked into. She held a positive demeanor, pulled from her Catholic faith, and was always looking for the good in people and things. If you spent any time around Claudia, you'd be sure to to walk away with a bit of her wisdom, a lot of her nurturing, and smile on your face. She was for sure a giver and her family says that "Her heart was way to big for her body!" Her hobbies included reading (she believed the only bad book was one not read), learning (her ambition was to one day be a professor of teaching), and baking (which she excelled in). Her famous cheesecake recipe that had been passed down from her mother was a mouthwatering enjoyment for her family gatherings and cold days had her phenomenal hot cocoa in her family's hands. It's all of these things and more that will be dearly missed by every single person who was so very fortunate to know her and be loved by her. Her memory will be cherished forever in the many hearts that she touched, the lives she so carefully guided, and the family and friends she leaves behind.

Survivors include her devoted husband, David Steinacker; daughter that she loved dearly, Ashley (Derek) Willis; two grandchildren who she adored, Wyatt and Winry Willis; her mother who she admired and emulated her strength, Dolores Depa; one brother, Eric (Amy) Depa; one sister, Lisa (Shonda) Depa- Hollingsworth; two brother in laws, Mark (Barb) Steinacker and Tim (Amy) Steinacker; six nephews, Grant Steinacker, Brent (Savannah) Steinacker, Seth (Brooke) Steinacker, Alex Steinacker, Eric Steinacker, Joshua Depa; her two best friends, Shannon Jackson and Kathy Kaburis; extended family and friends also survive.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Steinacker was cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
