🎃👻 Halloween is almost here! As you prepare for a fun night of trick-or-treating, remember to keep safety in mind. Hear from our Harbin Clinic and Atrium Health Floyd pediatricians as they share essential tips to ensure a spooky but safe evening:

1. Stranger Danger: Remind kids to stay in groups and know to approach only familiar faces.
2. Traffic Safety: Be sure to look both ways before crossing the street, and use sidewalks and crosswalks when available.
3. Costume Safety: Opt for non-toxic face paint instead of masks for better visibility. Choose non-flammable material for your costumes.
4. Candy Safety: Inspect all treats before enjoying them. Discard anything that's opened or suspicious.

Have a safe and happy Halloween! 🕷️✨

✅ Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.
✅ Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing.

If you know Dr. Ryland Scott, it’s not surprising to find out that he was committed to helping those impacted by Hurricane Helene. He worked with teammates from Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic to gather critically-needed supplies for delivery to remote areas of Western North Carolina. Thanks Dr. Scott for leading this effort and for all you do for our community as well!

To support those affected by Hurricane Helene in Georgia and North Carolina, Rome GA Cares is partnering with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office to collect essential supplies. You can donate items by bringing them to the North Rome Church of God parking lot, 1929 N. Broad St., between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 7.

As we continue to witness the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene and the aftermath of the storm, our hearts are heavy for the loss of life and the devastated communities. We are keeping those impacted top of mind and have initiated support.

Our mobile medicine teams have made dozens of trips to transport patients and deliver supplies – via our Atrium Health MedCenter Air and Wake Forest Baptist AirCare air ambulance teams, as well as with our ambulances on the ground. We expect our MED-1 mobile hospital to be deployed to provide much-needed medical services in the disaster area. Additionally, Atrium Health Georgia EMS is assisting with search and rescue missions, transporting patients and answering emergency calls.

Our organization and our teammates are committed to providing immediate and long-term disaster response and recovery for our communities.

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to culture, history and society. As we reflect on those who have paved the way for progress, we also honor those who are shaping the future for generations to come. At Harbin Clinic, we take great pride in our female leadership at every level of our organization and will be honoring some of the women who live out our mission to care completely for patients.

First up is Dr. Melissa Dillmon. In addition to caring for patients as a board-certified Oncologist and Hematologist at the Harbin Clinic Cancer Center, Dr. Dillmon serves on the Board of Directors for Harbin Clinic and was recently recognized as a Fellow by the American Society of Clinical Oncologists. Hear from Dr. Dillmon as she reflects on the importance of mentorship, multi-tasking and determination as it relates to her personal and professional success: http://bit.ly/HarbinWHM.
