This story is the same story with my son and his friend, however they got to experience both sides of that coin.

I taught them that some will take advantage, and others will see what they brought to the table and pay them based on their output.

Also to value themselves even when someone else doesn’t.

And one last thing. Believe your worth it… still learning to practice that one in my mind.

Two kids knocked on my door offering to rake my entire yard for $10 total—and what I did next changed how they'll see hard work forever.
It was a Saturday afternoon when I heard the doorbell. Two boys, probably around 11 or 12, stood on my porch holding rakes that looked almost too big for them. The taller one cleared his throat nervously: "Excuse me, sir. Would you like us to rake your yard? We'll do the whole thing for ten dollars."

I looked past them at my lawn. Leaves everywhere. It was going to be at least two hours of work, maybe three.
"Ten dollars each?" I asked.
They glanced at each other. The shorter one shook his head. "No sir. Ten dollars total. We'll split it."

Five dollars each. For hours of hard labor.
I could have said yes. I could have gotten my entire yard raked for pocket change and called it a teaching moment about negotiation. But something about the way they stood there—hopeful, polite, willing to work—reminded me of myself at that age. Hustling. Trying. Just wanting a chance.

"Alright," I said. "You've got a deal. Get started."
For the next two and a half hours, I watched those kids work. They didn't cut corners. They didn't complain. They raked every section, bagged the leaves, and even swept off my driveway without being asked. When they finally knocked to let me know they were done, they were sweating, exhausted, and smiling.
I walked out with my wallet. "You boys did incredible work," I said, handing them four twenty-dollar bills. "Here's your payment."
The taller one's eyes went wide. "Sir, we said ten—"

"I know what you said. But I also know what two hours of quality work is worth. You earned every dollar of this."
They stared at the money like they couldn't believe it was real. Then the shorter one looked up at me and said quietly, "Thank you. Really. Thank you."
As they walked away, I heard them talking excitedly about what they'd spend it on. And I realized something: we talk a lot about teaching kids the value of hard work, but we don't always show them that hard work actually gets valued.
Those boys didn't ask for a handout. They offered a service. They showed up. They delivered. And in a world that sometimes feels like it punishes effort and rewards shortcuts, I wanted them to walk away knowing that good work doesn't go unnoticed.
If you work hard, if you show up with integrity, if you give your best even when nobody's watching—good people will see it. And they'll bless you for it.
That's not just a lesson for kids. That's a lesson for all of us.

Amazing news! We finally have a real website. It is now live!

Check it out at 315snoblow.com

You may still encounter some errors, 404’s and routing to the old page that was there. But every hour it should get better. I will continue to add and modify the page as I can.

If you need a quote for this winter, everything is there and easier than ever.

Thank you all.

Years ago we decided to change the way Snow Services were offered in the local area.

We started with a vision.

Large Tractors and snowblowers to clean driveways on a large scale.

Did we get right into a big tractor right away, no. But we did get there after a couple years, then we got 2.

Many told us it was crazy, and it wouldn’t work. Some told me if they had a choice they would choose a truck, over me. (Or anyone offering my service)

Well here we are years later, we have grown a lot, we have met many people and proven ourselves to the others.

Last year was a crazy year with huge snow, that just kept coming.

We powered through it, and moved the snow for our customers, and for countless others.

We have heard over the years that the customers are very happy with the communication we afford them. We would keep everyone apprised of our plans for snowremoval with our page.

This year we are adding Live GPS tracking of our equipment. (This offers our customers the ability to see where we are, additionally they can opt into our automated txt system that will advise the customers when we are a few minutes out from their home.

Our service is all about taking the stress from the winter and managing it ourselves.

If you are interested in a professional company that is truly invested in working for you and providing the absolute best service they possibly can leave us a request at our website

Please visit us at www.315snoblow.com

Additionally for those customers that want to opt into the text line please fill out a request asking us to add you.

Exciting times ahead! Our latest shipment of pickets has arrived, marking a significant milestone in our progress. This is our largest order yet, and we're eager to put every single one to good use. After last year's heavy snowfall damaged many of our pickets, we managed to salvage around 120. We're now looking forward to installing the new ones over the next two weeks, taking a major step in preperation of the next season.

Our snowblowing routes are filling up quickly, and we have yet to receive responses from some customers regarding their estimates. If you haven't received or responded to your estimate, please contact us.

About a week ago, my son came bouncing in the room. I could see he was excited. I wasn’t sure about what. He was just hanging out with his friend (which he does a lot.)

He tells me they want to start working on lawn clean ups till the winter. I asked a few questions, to see what they were thinking about.

I was glad to see it, are there a few things they need to think more about (sure) but here we are about a week later, and they are still talking about it. And just as excited as they were when they started.

They tell me they want to be called (Grayson &Mason “The Leaf Busters”)not sure if the name is taken. But thats not important now.

This makes me happy. I hope they keep pushing to be the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Anyways!

If you are one of my current customers or not, I’m going to add a request in my system for you to request their services.

Both of the boys are in school, and don’t have phones on the all the time. This is the best way to develop a list as simply as possible for them to work.

My wife and I will support them as needed, and so will Masons Mom. But we are trying to let them do the work

This season we added stump grinding to our service Portfolio.

Yesterday we took out this stump, she was over 30” in the trunk. I chased the roots around. Opened up almost 400sq ft of area. I took out about 6-7yards of waste when it was all said and done

We can get rid of the eyesore, and finish it to look great again.

You can request this service right in our portal.
