Heartworm disease is serious, but it’s also preventable.

Heartworms are transmitted through mosquito bites and can live in your pet’s heart, lungs, and other organs, leading to life-threatening complications if left untreated.

The good news, prevention is simple. Monthly or long-acting preventatives, whether oral, topical, or injectable, can protect your pet year-round. Skipping prevention can turn something avoidable into an emergency.

Talk to your veterinarian about the best option for your pet and stay consistent, because prevention truly is the best protection.

Some of the most common pet emergencies start right at home. 🏡🐾

Everyday items like chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free products), garlic, onions, and even human medications like ibuprofen can be toxic to pets. Know the signs of possible ingestion:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite

If you think your pet may have ingested something harmful, don’t wait; call Pet Poison Control or head to your nearest emergency veterinarian right away. Acting quickly can make all the difference. Awareness is prevention!

Misha visited our ER for an upset stomach, and while he wasn’t feeling his best at first, he made everyone in the clinic smile with how sweet he was.🐾💙

After receiving treatment and starting to feel better, his sweet personality really came through. He made sure to show his appreciation to our tech Maggie with plenty of kisses and snuggles—clearly his way of saying “thank you” 🐶💋

These are the moments that make it all worth it. We’re so happy you’re feeling better, Misha!

Meet Rosey 🐾💕

Rosey came into our ER with a wound on her chest, and her family acted quickly to make sure she got the care she needed. After evaluation, her owners decided to pursue surgery with their primary care veterinarian for continued treatment.

While she was here with us, Rosey was sent home with medications to start at home.

Despite everything, she was incredibly sweet and made sure to give our technician Malik plenty of love during her visit—she definitely left a lasting impression on our team! 💙

We’re wishing Rosey all the best with her surgery and a smooth, speedy recovery!

Meet Keith 🐱💙

This sweet kitty came into our ER after a fishing adventure gone wrong—he had gotten a fish hook caught in his face. Ouch!

Our team carefully and safely removed the hook, making sure to keep Keith as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure. He was such a good boy for his treatment and handled everything like a champ!

To help prevent infection, Keith was treated with an antibiotic and lots of love. We’re happy to report he’s on the road to a smooth recovery.

Way to go, Keith! 🐾

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month; a time to raise awareness, take action, and be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Animal cruelty isn’t always obvious. It can include neglect, abandonment, lack of food, water, or shelter, or keeping pets in unsafe or confined conditions.

This nationwide initiative, led by organizations like the ASPCA for over 150 years, encourages all of us to:
✔️ Report suspected abuse
✔️ Support local shelters
✔️ Consider adoption
✔️ Advocate for stronger animal welfare protections

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts; report concerns to your local animal control or humane society. Laws vary by state, but your voice can make a difference everywhere.

Together, we can create safer, kinder communities for all animals.

A few weeks ago, Duke came into our ER after his owners noticed something wasn’t quite right with his neuter incision. The site had opened and showed signs of infection.

Our team cleaned, tended to the incision site, managed the infection, and make sure Duke was as comfortable as possible throughout the process.

We’re so happy to share that he’s now back home where he belongs—happy, healing, and surrounded by his loving family. 💙

Way to go, Duke!
