Last night, our Health Education Coordinator, Stacey Mullis, had the honor of presenting an award at the Rome City Schools Gifted/STEM Night at the Rome High School College and Career Academy. It was a wonderful evening to recognize and award district challenge winners in grades K-12 from the Communities in Schools of Rome-Floyd County Cardboard Challenge!

STEM careers are very much in demand and students find them so interesting, so we love partnering with Communities in Schools and Rome City Schools to cultivate that interest by providing this exciting event! 🩺

Blue Ridge AHEC is proud to be a sponsor of the annual Communities in Schools (CIS) of Rome-Floyd County Cardboard Challenge, a fun, competitive, STEM-focused event where local students create projects from recycled materials to promote creativity and teamwork! 📦📦📦

Stacey Mullis (our Health Education Coordinator & Communities in Schools Board Member) and Stephen Reeves (our Student Support & Housing Coordinator) had a great time serving as judges today, and they even tested out some of the innovative creations!

Serving as a major fundraiser for CIS, the challenge culminates in a district-wide competition judged by community partners, with categories often including games, structures, and transportation. Winners will be announced at the Rome City Schools Gifted/STEM Night on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Rome High School College and Career Academy.
