It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵

And while we all might be cranking up the AC, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe and comfortable this season.

Here’s a few summer tips for older loved ones:

💧 Keep drinks flowing — Hydration is key. Try lemon water, herbal iced tea, or fruit-infused water for a refreshing twist.

🌿 Stick to shade — Morning and evening are best for fresh air. Think porch chats, garden strolls, or birdwatching under a tree.

🍓 Eat the rainbow — Seasonal foods like berries, melons, cucumbers, and tomatoes are easy, colorful, and packed with nutrients.

🎶 Play their favorite music — It can lift spirits, stir memories, and create connection in an instant.

👂 Be present — Whether it’s a phone call, a visit, or simply sitting nearby, your time means more than you know.

It's almost We CARE Vet Fair time - get ready to join us at our NW Georgia event!

When: Tuesday, August 19, 2025 | 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Where: Forum River Center | 301 Tribune St, Rome, GA 30161
Who: Veterans, Current military (all branches & components), Military families, Caregivers, & Survivors
Cost: FREE Parking, Admission, and Services - this is a no-cost event!

Over 100 local, state, and federal agencies are preparing to provide essential assistance and support during our 2025 Northwest Georgia We CARE Vet Fair.

This is a service-focused event, where vendor provide assistance and resources at no cost. There are no sales or donation requests to attendees! Access vital resources including VA benefits claim support, PACT Act claim support, assistance from the Georgia Department of Veterans Services, and legal support.

Explore employment opportunities with limited onsite interviews and resume preparation available. Connect and enjoy camaraderie with fellow service members and veterans!

Don't forget to bring your DD-214 or equivalent military service documentation, any relevant military-related paperwork, VA claim documentation, legal documents if applicable, and your current resume if you're interested in employment opportunities.

When Thao walks into the room, a veteran with advanced Parkinson’s — mostly nonverbal — lights up and says, “There’s my angel.”
Thao Nguyen, a Care Pro with Home Instead, doesn’t just show up. She brings music. She brings home-cooked Vietnamese meals. She brings peace of mind.

Originally from Vietnam, Thao cared for her grandmother and extended family from a young age. That lifelong devotion to elders followed her to the U.S., where a neighbor introduced her to caregiving.

One family loved her cooking so much, they stocked their pantry just so Thao could prepare her signature dishes. Another client requested her by name each week, just to hear her music in the hall.

“I treat them like my own parents,” Thao says. “I love them so much.”
