As the final hours of 2025 unfold, we pause with gratitude and reflection.

At Aviation Medical Exams, every day is about more than forms and certifications—it’s about people. Pilots who carry responsibility with humility. Aviators who show up committed to safety, even when the process feels complex or uncertain. Families who support the dream of flight.

This past year reminded us that aviation medicine sits at a unique crossroads of trust, advocacy, and safety. Each conversation, each exam, and each decision represents a shared goal: keeping the skies safe while helping pilots continue to do what they love.

As we step into 2026, our commitment remains the same:
✈️ To listen first
🩺 To practice medicine with clarity and compassion
📋 To advocate responsibly
🌅 To support pilots for the long haul

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your aviation journey. It is an honor to serve this community and to help safeguard the freedom of flight.

Wishing you a peaceful New Year’s Eve and a healthy, safe, and inspiring New Year ahead.

The holiday season is unfortunately one of the most dangerous times of year for impaired-driving crashes.

December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month—a reminder that celebrating should never come at the cost of safety.

If you’ve been drinking or using substances, don’t get behind the wheel. Plan ahead, call a ride, or stay put.

🚔 The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign is happening now across Michigan.

Let’s keep our roads—and each other—safe this season. 💙

Walking through the airport this week, nearly every flight was delayed — mine by seven hours.
Behind those delays isn’t just inconvenience; it’s the real strain on an already stretched aviation system. The government shutdown has intensified the stress on critical safety personnel — air traffic controllers, TSA agents, FAA staff — many working without pay or under uncertainty.

As a traveler and physician who works closely with the aviation community, I see how systemic stress can ripple down to the individual — from the professionals safeguarding our skies to the passengers simply trying to get home.

Aviation safety relies on people — their focus, their well-being, and their ability to perform under pressure. The current situation is more than operational disruption; it’s human stress manifesting across every layer of the system

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to volunteer as a Physician, Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, and entrepreneur of Aviation Medical Exams at the Romeo High School Career Day.

With 92 businesses and organizations and over 1,800 students in attendance, it was inspiring to share insights about aviation medicine, answer thoughtful questions, and spark curiosity about careers in both aviation and healthcare.

The Academies at Romeo High School represent one of the most innovative and forward-thinking learning models in Michigan — empowering students to explore real-world professions and pathways early on.

It’s always rewarding to invest in the next generation of aviators, physicians, and innovators! 🚀

The phonetic alphabet, officially known as the NATO phonetic alphabet, is a standardized system used by pilots, air traffic controllers, and other professionals in aviation to clearly communicate letters, numbers, and codes—especially over the radio, where poor reception, background noise, or accents can easily lead to miscommunication.
