Valley Health Vascular Surgeons remind us that STEP-tember begins next week! During the month of September, the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Foundation sponsors a step challenge, encouraging participants to walk 60 miles during the month — one mile for every 1,000 miles of veins and arteries carrying blood and essential nutrients throughout your body. The challenge raises awareness for Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), a serious, underdiagnosed condition affecting over 10 million Americans. Find out more about PAD by visiting the link below.

On behalf of the entire staff at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, we would like to wish Ruth Dodd a very happy 106th birthday, making her the longest living resident at the hospital’s long-term care. A special celebration was held in her honor earlier this month. Just imagine, the year Ruth was born, a new Ford truck cost $650, a dozen eggs were about 35 cents and a new three-bedroom house set you back about $6,000!

At some point in our lives, 80% of us will experience back or neck pain.
