Good afternoon. Forest Service crews are out at the Bob Cat fire down past Roosevelt. We are monitoring the fire and staying in close contact with the forest service as well. TBFD crews are patrolling the area keeping an eye out.

We would like to send out a great big thank you to Heather Stage, the CEO of MHA Foundation in Payson for the donation of 4 Zoll AED’s to our district. These will be going on our support apparatus.

MHA Foundation is a great supporter of our communities in Tonto Basin, over the years they have also donated AED’s to Kiwanis Club of Tonto Basin, TBES - Tonto Basin Elementary School, Tonto Basin Bible Church and Desert Community Christian Church.

We look forward to a great partnership.

We would like to invite the community out to another open house and pancake breakfast on April 20, 2024 at Station 91. As we add community organizations over the next month we will keep the community updated. Hope to see you there.

From Gila County:

Good Morning,

This Friday, February 9th, the water service will be shut off in the Roosevelt Resort area from 7am-11am. The purpose of this is to lower the water lines in the intersection of Turkey Dr. and Stagecoach Trail. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. However, to continue successfully with this project, this shut down is unavoidable. We’re optimistic that this will also help in eliminating future disruptions in water service.

As previously stated, it is highly recommended that residents in this area have at least 10 gallons of water reserved for drinking, flushing toilets, etc. If you have plans to shower Friday morning, and can’t wait for 11am, it is recommended to shower the night before.

I would like to thank the residents in the Roosevelt Resort area for their support, understanding, and cordialness with our contractor. Stagecoach Trail is a mess right now, especially with all the water after this storm. However, I’m confident that when the finished product of our efforts is revealed, everyone will agree that it was worth inconvenience.

Update: as of 2/5/2024 @ 1700 hrs a home has been found for Lucky.

Yesterday at approximately 1:00 pm Tonto Basin Fire District was dispatched for a dog found in a roll off dumpster. Our crew was dispatched to the area and located a female dog in a large roll off dumpster. Our crew was able to quickly open the dumpster and rescue the dog.

We were able to load her into our response vehicle get her back to the station where we provided some basic first aid and gave food water and a bath.

She spent the night at the Fire station and was an honorable fire house dog for the day.

Unfortunately we were unable to find anyone to take her in and unfortunately today she is being taken to the pound in globe.

If you know anyone who could use a sweet dog or know anyone missing a dog please contact us and we will get you in touch with animal control.

Reach out to your friends and family members in the community and let’s find her a forever home!

Tonto Basin Fire District was honored to be in attendance at the celebration of life for Scottsdale Fire Department’s Captain Kory Yule. He was dedicated to his faith, family and served his community for more than two decades as a firefighter.

Fire Chief James Stoltenberg and firefighter Garrett Stalling’s were in attendance and part of the AZ Last team. The main goal of this team is to provide assistance and comfort to the family and department during this difficult time. May he rest in peace and forever look over his family.
