One thing I've realized the longer I do deep tissue massage: aggressively deep pressure is rarely the answer. I've said it before, but it bears repeatingβ€” massage does not have to hurt to be effective!

Now, on the flipside of that: discomfort β‰  pain, especially in deep tissue work. During a massage, you might feel intensity as layers of tension release or muscles begin to let go, but true pain is your body’s way of saying β€œtoo much.” The goa of deep tissue is productive pressure; enough to create change without forcing the body to guard or resist. 🌿
